Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
DC24 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it - for example, a shoelace or a rug fringe. From what you've described, it sounds like there may be something in the cleaner head which is jamming the brush bar. It's also important to remove any threads or hair from around the brush bar regularly. Please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:
http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/my-brushbar-is-not-rotating/stabiliser-check
You may also find the video below useful. Make sure that before you test the machine, you've reclined it into the vacuuming position, because the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright.
I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).
Best wishes,
Jack

Same problem here. We noticed a loss of suction for about 5 minutes and the suction stopped. Beater bar still rotates but ZERO suction.
