Hi, My son received the 28-piece microscope set for Christmas.  We would like replacement brine shrimp eggs.  Only one hatched.  We got them started about 2 weeks ago, and more should have hatched than just one. Thanks, Suzanne

Place them in water

1. To hatch the eggs, first prepare a brine solution. Pour the entire contents of a vial containing sea salt into a quart of
tap water. Add the brine shrimp eggs into the
solution. Allow the solution to stand at room
temperature (70 - 80F or 21 - 26C) for 24
to 48 hours and the eggs will hatch into nauplius larvae (this is the first stage of development after leaving the eggs).
2. Place some of the larvae into one of the compartments of the shrimp hatchery .
3. Place some fresh brine solution in another
compartment. Add a small amount of yeast to
this new solution. Then, using the eyedropper, transfer some of the larvae into this compartment as well. The yeast will
serve as food and produce oxygen for the larvae as they develop into maturity. Without food and oxygen, the shrimp cannot develop
and will die. Mature brine shrimp are known
as Artemia Salina.
Note: Using an eyedropper with just the right
pressure to get a desired amount of liquid
onto a slide can be harder than it looks. Take
out a clean slide and practice squeezing a
drop of water onto the slide until you feel
comfortable that you can control the size of
the drop that you're squeezing out.
4. Observe the life cycle of the shrimp as they
grow: the dried eggs, the hatching eggs, the
developing larvae, and finally, the mature
shrimp.
5. The mature shrimp may be fed to fish in an
aquarium if you so wish. However, first
remove the shrimp from the brine solution
and place them into fresh water. An increase
in salt may harm the fish in the aquarium.
NOTE: Use the color filter especially when looking at clear or dim specimens.

Well I have the instruction manual, but it is not too helpful. When I was a child I put fleas and ants on the slides, but I guess this microscope is different. Here is what my manual says.
How to make a prepared slide: If the given sample is not thin and transparent, it cannot be observed by the microscope as the light from the reflector or the light source does not pass through it. Fibers, pollen, wool, or salt can be observed easily and a cover glass is optional. Clear samples are stained first with a drop or 2 of methylene blue, Eosin or other dying solutions (not included).
1. TEMPORARY MOUNT: Wipe the slide and cover glass clean. Slice a thin sample with the micro-slicer (blade is very sharp...adult supervision). Pick up the sample with tweezers and put it on the center part of the glass slide. Put one drop of water on the sample using the needle that came with your kit.
2.PERMANENT MOUNT:Proceed as above, however, before covering the slide with the cover glass, add a few drops of gum media (not included, available at the store) or Canada balsam solution or transparent adhesive glue with a disecting needle to the slide. Push down on the cover glass with the tweezers to fix it in place and leave to dry for a day.
VIEWING LIVE BRINE SHRIMP:
1.Pour a small amout of brine shrimp eggs into the petri dish.
2.Add enough water so that the eggs are submerged and add just a dash of table salt.
3.Place the petri dish in a well lit area (under a lamp with a 60 watt bulb is good, for 24 hours).
4. When you see movement in the petri dish place it on your microscope stage, turn on the light and watch the brine shrimp in action.

Hi brine shrimp are sea monkeys just google see monkey hatching instructions they will be the same. my instructions do not have the information either but my set came with the brine shrimp. you just wont have pouch #1

Good luck we had 4 generations of sea monkeys. When they fie off you can let the water evaporate from your tank and Add new water and the cycle wiil start all over. we are in that process now 4th time...

You turn the light on by LITTERALLY turning the light on it's hinges. It swivels and when the light is in it's downward position (with the little light bulb pointing towards the ground) it is off. When you flip it over (with the little light bulb pointing towards the the veiwing platform) it should turn on.

If you look closely, you'll see the metal-to-metal contact pieces that trigger the light to come on.

according to the directions: condensed

prepare brine solution. pour all vile contents in to sea salt mixture,
fill 1quart of tap water
add brine shrimp into the 1 qt of water keep at 70- 80 degrees
should hatch in 24-48 hours

place into one of the compartments shrimp hatchery fig1 which is blue oval type container with dividers

place brine water with a small amount of yeast into a seperate compartment

use a dropper to place some of the larvea into this compartment
the larvea will feed on the yeast and provide oxygen
