You actually can replace the plastic impeller on the Toro 51591 with the metal impeller part from the Toro 51659. Here is what I posted in this regard on another site:

********

I had broken the 2nd plastic impeller on my Toro 51591 model and wanted to get the metal on offered on the latest blower, model 51659. Multiple comments and reviews stated that this part wouldn't work. So, I just purchased the newer model blower / vac with the metal impeller. It works fine, actually has a more variable speed control instead of just a high / low and I had no issues using it this weekend.
As I was gathering all the parts; tubes, bag, main unit etc to toss the older model in the garbage this morning, I thought - "I wonder if the metal impeller on my new one would work?" So, I quickly removed it from the new model and bolted it into the old one. It works absolutely fine.
Now I'm just going to purchase a metal impeller replacement and have both units handy - which in conduction to having two (2) large gas leaf blowers is overkill but why pitch a perfectly good item. I can find someone to give it too I am sure.
My point - it would be real nice if people wouldn't go online and write things like "the metal impeller replacement won't work on the Toro 51591 model." That is completely false.

If I put a smaller diameter hose on my shop vac will it create more suction power?

Yes, in one way the suction would be higher, but there would now be an additional load on the motor. Also, it would have more suction, but less volume (air flow).

Pump won't pick up cleaning fluid thru plastic suction tube.. Troy Built with 5 hp engine

The suction tube connects to a small brass piece that has a ball valve. When pump pushes water down hose, it creates suction on the ball valve. The ball valve has to be the right size. Too large, no suction, too small, no suction. The entire world of electronics is based on similar principle.

When the ball valve wears out, or gets clogged, the pump pressure is not able to lift fluid. Try cleaning valve, but my bet is you need a new part with the ball valve.

No suction

Use the guide at builtinvacuum.com/flowchrt.html to find the issue and solution. Most likely you need to test it without any filter and be sure the bottom of the unit is attached :) To get access to the motors you need to unbolt the very top sides.

Hi my dyson dc18 has great suction from wand but when you got to use the vac for floors little suction but wand still got suction even while vacuming floors is it suposed to stop suction from wand

My Dyson dc18 had the same symptoms. The wand worked well and the floor bar had no suction. After removing pieces & shoving my fingers into the machine (no blockage) I found the suction pipe rotates between two positions (floor and wand). It looks like a piece of plastic broke on the outside housing, so it no longer rotates positions when the wheels are raised or lowered. My son found we can move the suction by sliding a finger into the mechanism behind the wheel cover, and rotating the plastic piece clock-wise or counter clock-wise until it locks into position. It's a big pain but it works for now. I wish I could find a replacement piece online. Patty

The spinner in the middle of tub will move only a little at a time.

First, see the Sears Parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.82670110

Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive washers use a "Motor Coupler" between the motor and transmission.

It's used as a fail safe device and consists of three parts.

Two of the parts are the same, plastic units with three prongs that fit on one of the motor output shafts and the other on the transmission input shaft. Between them is a rubber piece with six holes.

The power from the motor is transmitted through the rubber piece to the transmission.

If the motor coupler is broken, or worn, the motor may not be able to send full power to the transmission for agitating or spinning.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet, pump, motor and motor mounting plate to inspect and replace the motor coupler.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

If the coupler looks damaged, it's a relatively easy fix.

Pry the plastic pieces from the motor and transmission. Some people use a claw hammer but I've found that using a small (6 inch) pry bar works well.

Carefully fit the plastic pieces over the motor and transmission shafts and press them in place (Use a 1/2" of larger socket to put pressure equally around the pieces.

Put the rubber piece on the transmission plastic piece.

Replace the motor mounting plate.

Carefully line up the plastic prongs on the motor based plastic piece to the three un-used holes in the rubber piece. If they don't line up right, the coupler could be damaged.

Mount the motor, don't forget the two screws, put the pump back on the motor and use its' clips.

Put the cabinet back on, don't forget to plug the lid switch back in and re-mount the console.

Replacement part
Posted by blassx3 on Jul 25, 2008
I broke a piece of plastic off my furniture attachment and now it will not spray cleaner or suction. Can I get a replacement and will it suction again?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Yes, the best 2 places to get the part or to order the part is your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the Hover website or cust serv line @ the Hoover factory that I will list below, if they do not have the part in stock they can order it for you – make sure you hive them the brand name and model # and sometimes they ask for the serial #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

The "spinner, 3rd level wash" kept falling off. Ordered new part, no instructions with it.

I had the same problem, the 3rd level spinner falling off. Without getting into my saga story, save yourself some $$$.
-You will need a screw & washer to replace the plastic thumbtack. The screw will have to be able to screw into the female part of the spinner; the washer will keep the screw from falling out of the hole in the flat hose on the ceiling of the dishwasher.
-If you look closely at the spinner(the part that keeps falling off), you will notice it comes apart. With a flat head screwdriver, separate the 2 parts. (there are 3 parts all together; Keep the round center piece sticking out of the top peice)
--Remove the top drawer of the dishwasher to give you some room to work
-Remove the screw on the "ceiling" of the dishwasher(it is located further back from where the spinner goes) to allow the flat pastic tube to come down low enough for you to get in behind it.(set that screw aside in a safe place; you will put it back later)
-Remove the pastic thumbtack from the hole in the flat plastic tube if it is there & replace with a washer and screw.
-Take the top 2 peices of the spinner, together as assembled & screw the screw into the female portion of the spinner.
-snap on the 3rd piece of the spinner
-replace the screw you took out earlier, securing the flat plastic tube.
-place top drawer
Voila, you are done!! You just saved yourself $20+

Vacuum problem

I bought a dirtdevil 8 years ago and it's still going. As long as the motor works then you have check to see if the brushroller turns. If not then check the roller belt (take the cover apart some have screws or lock tabs on bottom panel near wheels) If the suction is low then check the vac bag, also with bag off, turn on the vac to check if air comes thru.If not the inside tube is clogged(plastic bags, small objects, ect.)Also when you open the bottom panel to check the roller belt, check the flex pipe that sucks up to the vac bag(unclogg it).
