Downloading video from Panasonic NV DS60 using windows movie maker

Windows Movie maker running on my Laptop (Windows VISTA Home Premium) is not able to detect my NV DS 60 when I connect through the Firewire port (using 4pin - 4 pin Cable). I checked that the firewire port has been enabled on the PC. Any suggestions?

For ages I couldn't work out how to do this either but it does work with a firewire cable - I'm not sure who you asked at Panasonic but they list a cable specifically to transfer video from the camera to your PC and it turns out that it's a simple firewire cable. I use Windows MovieMaker and the camera is not recognised until you switch the camera on in the right order - then it appears in the capture devices menu - great camera but some more detailed instructions relating to its connection to a PC would have been helpful

Need software to connect pc

Try using Windows Movie Maker, located in your start menu. This will temporarily provide you with basic video-editing functions, as well as the ability to capture video from your camera. I hope this helps!

How to get my PC recognize the Panasonic NV-GS15

Solution A: make sure you are using the correct cable for what you are doing (eg USB for webcam and importing photos and Firewire for transferring video footage

most desktops have firewire plug in them but laptops don't usually

to get a firewire plug in a laptop you need a PCMCIA to Firewire Cardbus (ask your local retail store for one or buy one on ebay etc.)

after that put the cardbus in your PCMCIA slot and restart

then go to Windows Movie Maker and press "capture from video device"

hope this helps!
