I have installed yahoo messenger version 9. But I can not log-in. There
was a error message popping up ' messenger encountered a connection

have you changed your firewall settings recently? Maybe the firewall is preventing the connection. or if all is not working, try uninstalling the messenger and installing it again.

Connection Problems;
1. Open your Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab
3.Click the LAN Settings button and a new dialog box will open
4. At the new dialog box, look for the Proxy server checkbox, if this
is checked, uncheck it.check connect directly to internet then click ok
5. Then your done, click OK button for the dialog boxes.
6. Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger account.
Go open Internet Explorer and go in the File menu and uncheck at the bottom the Work Offline option. Then go to a site using IE. Close IE. Open Yahoo Messenger and log in.
