Inputing scientific notation into my calculator

Scientific, Engineering, Floating decimal, and Fixed decimal.

Absolutely. Press 2nd [SCI] to switch to scientific notation.

You can put it in scientific notation by hitting 2nd and 5. It will put your answers in scientific notation and not round that particular answer you have.

On a TI-30XA the EE key is just above the 7 key.

On a TI-30XIIS the EE is the shifted function of the key just above the 7 key.

The number displayed is 3.006 x10^12 or 3 006 000 000 000. It requires 13 digits to dsiplay but the calculator does not have that may places, so it reverts to scientific notation even if the mode is et to 'standard'. If numbers are too small or too large the calculator uses scientific notation regardless of the display format the calculator is configured for.

It's been a while since my TI calculator died, but I think you can just hit EE (may be "exp" on your model) followed by =.

z=e over i z= 480 over0.6 z= blank

If you mean using the "EE" key it's straightforward.

To enter scientific numbers, enter the number, then press EE, then the exponent value. The TI-30XA will stay in scientific display until you "clear" or turn it off. It will also switch to scientific notation if you multiply big numbers that exceed the display.

E.g. Input 3, EE, 10, X, 3, EE, 10, =, gives you the answer 9 times 10 to the power 20. Press the "square root" key and you will get back 3 times 10 to the power 10.

You can mix entries too, e.g. 3, EE, 10, X, 2, =, gives you 6 times 10 the power 10....
