The phone was set when I purchased it to ring 4 times before going into the answering machine . I have moved and don't have the answering machine that was with my land line phone. I only have the two Uniden cordless phones that have an answering machine feature.I can't find the manual that came with the set therefore, I am asking for help from FixYa.
Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden DECT 6.0 system I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual.

Try to set it factory mode and use if this fails then the ringer speaker is defective ,if its within warranty get it replaced or get it serviced it will fix the issue .
or use this link to download the owner's manual.

If you have changed the setting on the base station and that did not work, power your base station off completely and try again if that does not work you have an out of box defect and need to exchange it.
SOURCE: Our phone rings only twice
With the phone in standby mode, press the menu/clock key three times.
You hear "Ring time" and the current ring time, and it is displayed on the main base. Then you hear the guidance for setting the ring time.
Press the volume/select-up-down until the desired setting appears.
Press the set key.
Full instructions are in the "Setting the Ring Time" section of the manual (page 36 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download a copy at

Usually answered in minutes!
I was able to find the solution to my problem in the manual and I printed the page out and followed the instructions carefully. The next time I got a call, I waited to see how many times the phone would ring before going into the answering machine. It only rang 4 times, not the 6 that I had set it. The next step wiil be to call Cox and see what they can do. Thank you for your advice.
