SOURCE: Need the know the correct H and L settings for our

There are no hard and fast settings.
The initial starting point "H" and "L" are 1.5 turns CCW from lightly seated.
The"T" adjustment enters here too (idle speed) and there is initial setting without a tach, depending on age may not be any initial "T" setting.
The "L" needle is primarily idle performance (not speed) and acceleration to full throttle.
The "H" is mostly performance at speed, but all are interconnected.

Fresh mix of fuel. Put ALL of the old mix in any 4 cycle and start new. I suggest 50:1 regardless of what your manual says. This is the best performance adjustment I have found.

  • CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
  • Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.
  • Clean the spark arrestor and muffler; if the saw cannot exhale it cannot inhale.
  • There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full - may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too.
If push comes to shove a local saw shop (I prefer Stihl mechanics and do not own a Stihl) should be considered.

What is the trick to connect the fuel line, coming from the fuel filter, into the tube connection INSIDE the fuel compartment on my Poulan 14" model P3314? I can't reach it! - (

buy enough hose so you can put it into the tank far enough to grab with needle nose pliers or hemostats and pull it through far enough to put your filter on and then pull back the other way ,but don't forget to leave enough in the tank for filter to lay in bot. of tank, and if your old line had a connection in the tank ..do away with it and run 1 solid piece. I do this all the time , Good Luck

The spark plug wire got smashed in between the top housing and the out side of the air filter housing chain saw is not getting spark i think i need a new wire for my poulan p3314 chainsaw

Hi Brandon,

If you buy the part online, you have to buy the complete ignition module. If you wish to do this, copy and paste this web address into your browser's address bar: http://wssemw.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF

You'll see by the list there are two types for p3314. Click on your type, then on "engine assembly" on the right hand side of the next page. The ignition module is #4 on the diagram and the list. Type 1 and Type 2 have different part numbers, so be sure to get the one you need.
You should find the type next to or under the model number. This particular dealer has good prices and speedy delivery.

Your other option would be to take the plug wire into a chainsaw dealer and see if they can match it for you.

Good luck,

Thanks for visiting fixya!

Please place a vote for me. keeps me working here.....

Check system for shorts. I have a 02 Sport that I am on my 6th alternator since last November, 2010. The last time, my car broke down outside of Natchez and I had a shade tree mechanic work on the car. He found several corroded & frayed ground wire connections. I don't know if this will solve my problem, but it's probably worth the check.

How do you adjust chain oiler, increase or decrease amount of oil

Did you get it Lowes? Most new homeowner class chainsaws have no oiler adjustment (bad idea! lots of problems). If it does there is a mention in the OM under or near bar maintenance.
Intermediate class saws often have a 3 position oiler. The professional grades have fully adjustable oilers.

Oil System Plugged:
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar), if equipped with a sprocket nose ensure it rotates easily at least one complete revolution. Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up (oozes down side of saw). If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Work your way through the linkage (use IPL to identify components and locations) cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is a left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
If it does not oil on completion of 1 it is most likely a bad oiler or worm gear (see IPL).

McCulloch EB428 chainsaw and the auto oiler won't work

Good on you for what attempted already. I looked at the print and it appears there is a worm gear (item 50) and a driven pump (item 61) behind the clutch. I suspect one of the 2 has failed. I know you have done most of this already But does it ooze with the bar off?

455 chain saw does not seam to be oiling the chain enough, checked an cleaned oiler chain an bar ,i cant find my book but i know it can be adjusted but dont know how

Caution it is probably only a 3 position oiler, forcing it beyond either stop may cause failure. The 2009 om (may not be your saw) adjustment is on page 33 of the Operator's Manual (below).

Our job is to provide the knowledge and illustrations available to help you determine which oiler component has likely failed. Your job is to apply that knowledge and make the final determination. If you aren’t comfortable doing that then your only option short of saw disposal is your friendly local chainsaw seller/mechanic. You might be pleasantly surprised at how reasonable they are.

Is this a new saw? If yes please contact Husqvarna about a warranty (2 years) repair. I think you already performed part 1 below.

I've 7 chainsaws. 6 of them oil my bench if I forget to drain the oil tank.

Can't pinpoint bar oil adjustment on 08 445 husqvarna

There is no externally adjustable oiler on a 445. From your manual:
"If the chain lubrication system is still not working after
carrying out the above checks and associated measures
you should contact your servicing dealer."
