I have seen this one other time in all my years of appliance repair and changing out the "water inlet valve" corrected the problem. I don't have an answer to why it did, but it did. Here is the valve for your unit.
After you change the valve be sure to purge the water line for a good 5 - 10 mins to get all the nasty water out. Keep me posted!

I forgot to tell you, to purge the water line to the ice maker you will need a cup to place under the water spout to catch the water. Then, remove the face plate on the ice maker and you will see some test points. Make a jumper wire with some 14 gauge wire that will reach between the L and V test points. When you jump these two point the water valve will energize and water will flow into the ice maker. ( into the cup you have in place) Keep me posted!
