Laser does not scan using Internet Explorer

I have a Symbol MC9090 scanner and we have an web based application. I would like for users to be able to log into internet explorer pull up the web page and when they click in the text box field scan a barcode. My problem is when user launch internet explorer the laser on the gun does not work. Is there a way to get the laser to scan when using internet explorer?

Try starting the ScanWedge prior to opening the Internet explorer browser. ScanWedge can be found under the Applications partition.

ScanWedge/DataWedge can not be distributed to customers. Symbol says it violates any partner agreement you have with them.

They claim their browser can do it, but it is a license of $200+ for every device.

The only other alternative is to write you own utility that does what ScanWedge does... though I don't know of anyone who has tried that.

Scanner programming is like programming in the early 90's!!

Is there a way to turn scanner on and off in a motorola 9090g. It appears it is only triggered in a application. I am trying to use the bar code scanner in a web based application.

Hello,
there are several ways to use the scanner: you can have an application directly with scanner drivers implemented. You can also install the application DataWedge provided by the manufacturer. The DataWedge aplication will activate the scanner and the decoded barcode is sent as usual keypad inut to the system. The application is running in background, so you can have your favourite simple application in foreground and scan data directly.
To download the DataWedge application please go to support.symbol.com website and search for DataWedge, or use this direct link http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=12685

Symbol MC9090 Barcode Scanner cannot enable scanner error code "A0000008"

The scanner engine/output can be used only by one application. If a second application is trying to access the scanner, while in use. The error message will come.
Please check if there are more applications running in background. Usual MC9090 applications with scanner drivers are Telnet, Datawedge, Rapid Deployment and custom software. Exit one of the application or try to exit all of them. Start your scanning application again, no error should appear now.

I replaced a Symbol MC9090. How do you configure it

The RFID version requires a fair bit of knowledge and an application that is RFID capable. Contact your dealer. If you bought it used or off the web, good luck. Your best bet is to contact the Help Desk at 1-800-653-5350 or work with a full service dealer in your area

Could not active it the scanner on the MC9090

The link works for me DataWedge provides a convenient mechanism for non-scanning aware applications to receive data from embedded or connected data capture devices. It allows the user to capture data into any application that accepts keyboard input. It supports four types of Data Feeds: Barcode Scanners, RFID Tag Readers, MSR Readers and Serial Data Input. It provides user with text/hex data formatting and prefix/suffix facilities. Description
  1. New Test and Log Display.
  2. Improved DataWedge Startup Time for MSR and RFID
  3. Gen2 RFID Support
  4. Device enable/disable persistence over cold boot
  5. Virtual Key Support in Prefix/Suffix
  6. Performance improvements for MSR
  7. Enable Serial Interface on startup
  8. Support added for Event based Serial reading.
  9. Delays regarding RFID are fixed.
  10. Several Barcode character mapping issues fixed.
make sure some security software is not blocking your access

Hi, I'm writing a php page to be used on the MC9090 and I want the laser to be activated when focus is on a specific input box. Seeing as I'm new to the MC9090 scanner I don't have a clue where to start....

I'm not sure if you can trigger the scanner based on a web field but you can just enable the Data wedge software which will allow the scan to input anywhere you have the cursor. The scanner will be "active" all the time but won't actually scan until you pull the trigger. You can download the datawedge software from www.symbol.com.
