Acer Aspire 5536 only gives black screen when i connect power supply

  • Nothing is more annoying than a monitor that refuses to turn on. Make sure your Acer monitor is plugged in to a functioning outlet. If it's plugged into a power strip, try replacing it with a new one or moving the plug to a different outlet. Ensure that both ends of the power cable are plugged in firmly and securely, and that the connection to the monitor is not loose.
Cable Issues
  • Your Acer LCD monitor will usually accept DVI and VGA inputs. If you have an older computer, a VGA cable should work fine. If it doesn't have a VGA port, you'll need to obtain an inexpensive DVI to VGA adapter at your local computer store. A DVI cable, however, is compatible with most modern computers and offers superior picture quality over VGA. Make sure you're using the cable that's compatible with your system, and that you have the proper conversion adapter, if necessary.

HOW TO GET NETFLIX ON MY TV FROM PC

Your TV should have a VGA port as one of its inputs. So your TV will act as a very big monitor. All you need is a VGA cable. If you are using a desktop computer, you can use the same VGA that you use to connect the computer to the monitor. If it's a laptop, you will need to find a VGA cable to use.
Remember to switch the TV input to the VGA source, usually listed as PC on newer TV's.
Good luck.

I plugged in the VGA cord from my computer to my television

Most likely your current resolution isn't supported by the TV. Before you plug your TV up to your computer, set your desktop resolution to 1024 x 768. This is the standard and is supported by most if not all flat screens. If it doesn't work on this setting try 800 x 600 or 1280 x 768. One of those three should show up. If no resolutions work, then there is something wrong with the TV. If other monitors work on your computer then the computer is just fine.

Proscan 32'' VGA port; TV says not supported on VGA input

Sounds like your resolution on your computer is set too high for your tv to accept. Try putting your computer resolution down to 1024x768 or lower and see if that works.
