I have a Motorola L603 phone witch comes with a base with handset and two extension handsets. I want to add a third extension handset. Can it be done and if it can be done, how do you go about adding the 3rd handset?

I think you all totally missed the question. The phone set comes with the base and 2 extensions. He is wanting to BUY a 3rd extension for this unit, if I am reading this correctly. I have the same phone set and I have not found anywhere that sells additional handsets. Sorry.

This sounds like the register-deregister problem elsewhere on this page. Try holding down the "end" and "#" buttons for about 6 seconds to deregister the phones and then reregister them. I had this problem too and it worked for me.

SOURCE: My handset won't charge

Try charging it in a different cradle if you have more than one handset.  This has happened to me where a particular base will not charge a particular phone.  Once charged elsewhere the problem resolved.

SOURCE: PROBLEMS with phone

Had the same issue. I have two units each with a handset, and one handset went to "out of range" status and stayed that way even after recharging. I tried to register it with that base and no luck. I then tried to register it with the other base and it worked. Then I tried to "swap" the handsets and no luck - it seems that the registration process on the one unit is toast so now I can only use the handsets with one of my two base units.

How to use US bought cordless phone to work in India? Model Name : Motorola L603 M

no need to worry about frequency it will take care by voltage converter. you just need a good quality converter. and no need to buy 3 converters for 3 handsets. just buy one converter and one Multiplug or extension cable and connect it to converter's output socket and put your base power supply and other handset's chargers in and you are good to go.

Registering a handset

Important:
If you accidentally assign another
handset's extension number to the base
unit, the originally assigned handset
stops functioning. Confirm the extension
number of the handset by placing it on
the base unit or charger. Lift the handset
from the charger before registering.

1 Handset:
{MENU} i {0}{0}
2 Base unit:
Press {SELECT} until the desired
extension number (H1, H2, H3, or
H4) is displayed on the base unit, then
press and hold {CALL} until the
CHARGE indicator flashes.
LH4 can be used if you have 4
handsets.
LAfter the CHARGE indicator starts
flashing, the rest of the procedure
must be completed within 1 minute.
3 Handset:
Press {OK}, then wait until the handset
beeps.

Can not rec a dial tone, phone states no link to base move closer

If “No link to base. Move closer to base, try again.” is displayed
even when using the handset near the base unit, the handset may have lost communication with the base unit. You need to re-register the handset to the base unit.
• Make sure the base unit is not being used.
• Have both handsets and base unit nearby during registration.
• Follow steps 1–3 listed below. You have about 1 minute to complete them.
• Confirm the extension number of the handset which has lost the communication by placing the handset on the base unit or charger.
If you re-register the handset using the other handset’s extension number, the other handset will not function.
• If the handset beeps 3 times and “Error!!” is displayed, an error occurred. Try again from step 1.
• You can stop registration by pressing [OFF] on the handset, and pressing [LOCATOR/INTERCOM] on the base unit.

1 Base unit: Press and hold [LOCATOR/INTERCOM] until a beep sounds.
• The CHARGE indicator flashes.

2 Base unit: Press the extension number [1] (handset symbol 1 ) or [2] (handset symbol 2) of the
handset which has lost the communication.

3 Handset: Press and hold [FLASH/CALL WAIT] until “Handset Registering” is displayed.
• When registration is complete, a beep sounds from the handset and the display shows the number.
• Wait for 20 seconds after registration is complete while the handset establishes communication with the base unit.

• If the handset beeps 3 times and “Error!!” is displayed, an error occurred. Try again from step 1.
• You can stop registration by pressing [OFF] on the handset, and pressing [LOCATOR/INTERCOM] on the base unit.

Just bought an additional handset for GE 27951 expandable 6.0 DECT Cordless. I press and hold the Page button for 5 seconds but the new handset will not register. Error keeps occurring "no base."

This exact thing happened to me. Same model number. No matter what I did, the new handsets would not register.

The solution? Reset the entire system:
1. On the BASE - Unplug from wall both power and phone line. Unplug battery from base handset.
2. ON the Extension phone - unplug from wall and unplug battery from handset.
3. Wait AT LEAST 5 minutes.
4. Plug back in BASE power.
5. Plug back in BASE phone line.
6. Plug back in EXTENSION handset battery. Don't plug in BASE handset yet.
7. Follow steps to program EXTENSION. When successful:
8. Plug back in BASE handset battery.

How do I add an extension handset to my current config?

IF it was a used handset it was likely registered to another base. I just switched bases (1line to a 2 line base). I had to "deregister" the handsets from the old base. I am not sure if you can deregister if the old base is not present? With the old base plugged into power I hit the "function key" at the bottom left of the handset and scrolled down to initial settings. Under registration is "deregistration". I selected that and it put the handset back to its default out of the box. Then simply hit the mute button on the New base and OK on the handset. Worked for all 5 of my old handsets.

Hope this helps
