Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

DELL OPTIPLEX WONT BOOT PAST WINDOWS LOGO

If the loading fails with an error message, try hitting F8 before the windows logo appears and from there Select "Safe Mode". If it works like that, one you're logged in Windows, perform a System Restore to an earlier point in time (when the computer worked).

Remove logo

Check your RAM. This is the only advice I can give as you don't tell us the model of your board and what OS you are running.

I have a hp compaq nx9010 and the operating system is windows xp i downloaded windows live version 9.0 or which ever is the lastest version it told me my labtop was not compatable because the windows logo...

Okay, did you manage to backup your system before trying to load Windows live? If not, you might take it to a computer repair shop that might be able to get your data off your hard drive by removing it from the computer. It sound like you are going to need to reformat your disk and reload XP. If you feel capable, you can call Microsoft and have them walk you through it. If not, your local computer professional can probably do it for you. There is always a possibility that something is wrong with the hardware, but I would lay my money on the software. If you can get it to try to boot, you can go to safe mode to retrieve your data. If not, you will have to take it to someone who works with data retrieval.

Pc is restarting but doesn't show the log on screen

It sounds like your Windows Installation is corrupt. If there isn't anything you need on the drive, I would get a Windows XP CD (Look on the side of your case for a Windows Key, Get that version of the CD) Then I'd use that windows XP CD to wipe the drive and Re-install windows. If there is Data on the drive you need, You will need to invest in either a second HD, or You need to Install Windows on a Second HD and boot from that if you already have a second HD.
