Hello, I was trying to replace my modem/router with a combined one in the hopes might get some more speed online. Anyways, that didn't work. I plug the old systems back in, and now we cant connect. Everything is the same as before, cordwise. No settings were changed. Now it seems that only one computer can connect? I guess we keep getting IP address conflicts? Any ideas, ohh all knowing and powerful internet lords?
Plug the computer into the modem testing dhcp
if it gets internet the modem is the dhcp server
the plug into router by itself disconnected it from modem testing dhcp if gets ip address and no internet it's the dhcp server
dhcp can be done by the modem or router. I bridged mode the modem and let the router do dhcp. of course the router must be pppoe for dsl. been years since I had DSL, hope it helps

I guess you probably aint set-up a wireless router before, what you need to do is get it connected up so you revieve local area is connected then, load internet explorer you will recieve a message like page not displayed. where you usually type in www.ebay.com for example type in the number thats on the bottom of the router ie it looks somthing like this 192.168.1.1 for example. a menu will then appear, fill in your broadband username details etc and you should be up and going, if you have problems feel free to email me,, All the best John [email protected]

SOURCE: speedstream 4100 does not work with router
you can't.
when the item name as modem/router. it means the main function is modem with added router function.
you can't connect 2 router/modem together. both need access to the internet and IPS for it function correctly.
however, you can connect 1 modem and one router.

TUrn on the computer with the speedstream 4100 connection, like you always would, then when on and fully booted, unplug ethernet from modem, plug in ethernet cord from xbox. Turn on X-box, then restore factory settings. Should work
