Transfer your .avi movie files onto a USB stick & simply plug them into the Tevion DVD player.
Select the usb button on the remote to activate & choose which film to play from the menu that pops up.

Buy a DVD cleaning kit follow the instructions, sometimes brings it back to life. If no change! the assembly will need to be replaced,"not cost effective" cheaper to replace.
my desktop computer will not write to a dvd, but will play a dvd
& my laptop will play a cd but will only write to a dvd
it's just the way the drives are,,I've tried different types of dvd also nothing helped
my pc did that recently, it would read the disk not all of it, so I went out & got a new drive & the new drive is reading everything
it's very possible the dvd drive is going out
The READ head is dirty or damaged...very difficult to get to the back of TV to disassemble DVD player.. clean read (light diode) head with light cleaning fulid or don't take apart & use official cleaning DVD disc. Look on web site for CD\dvd cleaning disc.It looks like a CD but has 'fuzz' or a very thin " rug" on 'read' side of disc.
Like all DVD Players & Recorders the Laser only has a certain life span before it burns out. Some last longer than others and most aren't cost effective or viable to replace.
In your case it's even worse beause you'd have to replace the complete DVD Mechanism.
Do the following: 1- Right Click my computer. 2- Select Manage. 3- Select Device Manager. 4- Select from the right pane , DVD/CD-ROM Drive. 5- See what comes under it , and read the letters.
CD-R = Only read CD CD-RW = Read & Write CD DVD-R = Read DVD & CD (mostly write CD also) DVD-RW = Read and Write everything Except DVD-Dl
