Go to your Yahoo email account and look at the right of the screen, next to where your name shows up (it says "Hi, [your_name]!"). To the right of your name is a tiny link that says "sign out." Click this, and you should be able to log into your new account.

  • Anonymous Jan 08, 2009

OK, I have a few questions:

    1) Are you using Internet Explorer? If not, what are you using?

    2) Is this a separate email account or an alias?

    Thanks!

  • Anonymous Jan 08, 2009

    OK, let's try this:

Go to your Yahoo email and sign out. On the sign-in page, look for a link at the bottom that says "I am not {user_name}"

If you can't find that link, try holding down the "Shift" key on your keyboard and pressing F5. This should force the page to refresh with new information.

If you still can't get into your new account, try this:

    1) Open internet Explorer

    2) Click Tools (at the top right)

    3) Click Internet Options (last item in the Tools list)

    4) About halfway down the Internet Options window, it says "Browsing History" and then "Delete temporary files . . . ." and a few more items. Click the Delete button under this.

    5) Click Delete Cookies.

    6) Click OK, then try to log in to Yahoo again.

Security question

Forgetting your Yahoo! password or ID can happen to anyone, Yahoo! has established procedures for you to retrieve both without having to create a new account.

The password and ID retrieval process is a short and simple one, but you must follow it exactly. The forgotten password process does not give you the password you created when signing up for the account, it gives you a new one, which you can change later. Forgotten Password

To recover your Yahoo! account password, click on the "Sign In" link from the Yahoo! homepage, which will take you to the "Sign in to Yahoo!" page.

Follow the "I can't access my account" link directly below the yellow "Sign In" button.
Select the "I forgot my password" radio button on the next page and then click "Next."

Enter your Yahoo! ID and the code as it is shown and then click "Next."
From the following page, choose whether you want your password sent to the alternate email address or cellular phone number given when the account was created, and then click "Next."

An email is then sent to your alternate email address or cellular phone inviting you to reset your password.

Forgotten ID

From the Yahoo! homepage, follow the "Sign In" link located near the top of the page.
On the next page, click on the "I can't access my account" link directly below the yellow "Sign In" button.

On the next page, you must provide the alternate email address, birth date, country of residence and postal code given when the account was created.

When finished, click on the "Next" button and your ID will be emailed to your alternate email address.

Password Security Questions

If you do not have access to the alternate email address or cell phone number provided when the Yahoo! account was created, you must click the "I can't access any of the above" radio button on the "Please select an option to reset your password" page.

After clicking "Next," you must provide the answers to the security questions selected when the account was created before you are able to reset the account's password.

When All Else Fails

If the Yahoo! account password or ID retrieval methods don't work, you may want to create a new Yahoo! account.

This is done by following the "Sign Up" link at the top of the Yahoo! homepage, next to the "Sign In" link mentioned earlier.

If you choose to create a new account, be sure to remember the alternate email and cellular number you provide in case you find yourself in a similar situation down the road.

Shaw webmail login

Now which email account is it ?.
hotmail , yahoo , msn , outlook , live mail ,gmail ?.
It is not uncommon for users to forget their user names and passwords, especially when trying to access an email account not often used.
Email providers like Yahoo! and Google are aware that users forget and have implemented a way to identify the user in this situation. In order to use this retrieval method, you must have submitted an alternate email address when you signed up for that email.

Go to the email sign-in page.
Notice the option underneath the login fields for users that have trouble signing in; in Yahoo! Mail this option is "I forgot my Yahoo! ID" and in Google Gmail this option is "Can't Access Your Account."
Click this option.
Enter the alternate email address entered when you set up up your email address.
Yahoo! Mail users also need to enter the birth date, country and postal code entered when the email address was set up. Click "Next."

Log in to your alternative email address and click the email provided.
Your email user name is available in the body of the email.
Click the link within that email to reset your email password.
To reset your email password, the provider might require that you answer your security question.

Go back to the email sign-in page and log in using your user name and new password.

I cannot access my mail

Ymail is part of Yahoo Mail. In order to provide users with more combinations for email addresses, Yahoo introduced another email extension called Ymail. Ymail accounts look like [email protected]. Ymail allows users whose desired email address was already taken to create their desired address and still have all the same features as Yahoo Mail. Accessing a Ymail account is quick and easy and can be done from any web browser.

1. Create a Ymail account, if you don't already have one. Open a browser window and type "http://mail.yahoo.com" and click "Sign Up" under "Don't Have a Yahoo ID?" section.
Fill in the appropriate information in each blank in section 1. This section is for your name, gender, birthday and location.
In section 2, choose a Yahoo ID/email address. In the drop down box beside the email address text box, choose "ymail.com." Press "Check" to see if the email address is available. If it's not available for use, choose another address, but keep the "ymail.com" domain the same.
Choose two security questions in section 3. This are necessary in case you forget your password. The alternate email address is optional.
Type in the security code at the bottom of the screen and press "Create My Account."

2. Open a browser window and type "http://mail.yahoo.com" to access the Ymail login screen.

3.Type your full email address in the "YahooID" box. Be sure to include the "@ymail.com" or the address will not be recognized. Using the full address distinguishes Ymail accounts from Yahoo or Rocketmail accounts.

4. Type your password in the "Password" box. Your password is case sensitive. Press "I Can't Access My Account" if you've forgotten your password. You can either have the password sent to another email address or change it altogether after answering the security questions you set up during the account creation process.

5. Press "Sign In" to access the Ymail account.

I forgot my password and dont remember my answer to the security question. HELP

You can get a new password, a Yahoo! ID reminder, or both. If you forgot your Yahoo! ID or password, go to the Sign-in Problems page.
If you forgot your Yahoo! ID, you need to provide three pieces of information so we can confirm your identity:
  • Your birthday
  • Your ZIP or postal code (at the time you created your Yahoo! account or when you last updated it)
  • Your alternate email address -Note: You must have access to this email address
  • Country code (at the time you created your Yahoo! account or when you last updated it)
Be sure to provide the same information you gave the last time you registered for a new Yahoo! ID or password or the last time you updated your account.
If you forgot your password, you can create a new one. But first you'll have to provide the following information so we can confirm your identity:
  • Your Yahoo! ID
  • Alternate email address, mobile phone number, or the answers to your secret questions
A Reset Your Password link will be sent to your alternate email address. Click the link and enter your new password in the Reset your password page.
If you entered your secret question incorrectly or forgot what you originally entered, for security reasons, we cannot tell you what your Yahoo! ID is or let you create a new password.

When you request a new password, need technical support, or have questions about your billing, Yahoo! usually asks you for your Secret Question for verification that you are who you say you are.
To protect your account from unauthorized access, Yahoo! must be able to confirm your identify. You can confirm your identity in one of the following ways:
  • Answer your Secret Question (also referred to as a Security Question)
  • Provide a valid alternate email address or mobile phone associated with your account (if you no longer have access to that email address or phone number, it's not valid)
If you can't sign in but have provided an alternate email address or phone number, you won't need to verify your Security Question. Go to the Sign-in Problems page for help logging in to your account.
If you cannot verify your Secret Question and your account doesn't have an alternate email address or phone number we can use to identify you, then you will not be able to reset your password, get answers to questions about your billing, or receive technical support.
If you cannot verify the answer to your Security Question, you cannot change it to something else.
We strongly suggest that you add and verify an active alternate email address or mobile phone for your account. This is an email address we can use to communicate with you if you no longer have access to your Yahoo! Mail account. To add or edit an alternate email address or mobile phone, go to your ACCOUNT INFO: Manage your email addresses page.

If you remember the alternate email address you used to create the account, you can use that to retrieve your Yahoo ID.
However, if you didn't use an alternate email address when you signed up, then there's really no way to retrieve your old Yahoo! email address due to the fact that its encrypted within Yahoo's database, and they cannot access your email address either.
