All Acer TV models use the universal Remote Control code NEC 18E7, which most of universal Remote Controls can use. We recommend using the search function, available on most universal remote controls, to find the compatible code for your Acer TV.
Take your Shaw Remote Control, and read the instructions on the back. Follow those instructions. If that does not work, just telephone Shaw, and ask for Technical Support for TV, and a customer representative will walk you through the process.
you need to go to:- My computer/control panel/display
you should be then into the display settings panel. at the top of the panel, select settings. and you should set:- colour quality Highest 32 Bit ( or whatever the highest is )
Then Screen resolution ( bottom left ) should now be 800-600 to 1024x768 or similar.
Whichever is best for your monitor.
if you can,t acheive this. you need to re-install any drivers for your graphics card or onboard vga.
I have an Acer 3720A and Shaw's Atlas PVR remote. I used the "scan feature" to find that code "0704" worked for me (at least for power and volume - which are all I need).
Whether or not this works for you depends on the specific Acer TV you have and possibly the model of "shaw" remote. Many Shaw remotes actually come from Universal Electronics (www.urcsupport.com) and they do not have Acer TV's in their DB. Acer's own site indicates they cannot provide a specific code (at least for my model of TV) and to try the remote's scan feature - which is how I ended up with my solution.
I currently own an Acer AT2001 21 inch Television/Monitor. The refresh rate on your computer should be set to 60Hertz. You can change this setting by right clicking the desktop, click properties, click settings, click advanced, click adapter, click list all modes, click 800by600 at 60Hertz. The screen resolution will not go above 800by600. Note; Initialize these settings with an old crt monitor and then plug in the Acer.
cleaning was not only the one needed but maintence as well! some of the components might be getting disconnected inside! send it to a service center... it won't cost you much since is it still working!
