We had an issue similar to this; we bought a new lead, thinking it was that. It ended up being the port on the back of the machine. Luckily, we had another FDU to use.

SOURCE: I have a Simplex Kaba

I believe you can find this to be relevant:
I found this instruction elsewhere on this site ( thanks to pctuneup191):

PROCEDURES TO CHANGE THE COMBINATION OF

SIMPLEX 1000 SERIES CIPHER LOCKS

1.) ENSURE THE DOOR IS OPEN.

2.) INSERT THE DF-59 CONTROL KEY INTO THE COMBINATION CHANGE PLUG ASSEMBLY (ON THE BACK OF THE DOOR) AND UNSCREW THE CYLINDER BY TURNING THE KEY COUNTERCLOCKWISE.

3.) TAKE THE CHANGE PLUG ASSEMBLY COMPLETELY OUT OF THE DOOR.

4.) TURN THE OUTSIDE DOOR KNOB CLOCKWISE ALL THE WAY UNTIL IT STOPS, THEN RELEASE THE KNOB.

5.) PRESS IN THE EXISTING COMBINATION FIRMLY.

6.) INSERT THE SPANNER WRENCH IN THE COMBINATION CHANGE SLEEVE. IT SHOULD INSERT AT THE NINE O'CLOCK POSITION.

7.) TURN THE SPANNER WRENCH GENTLY CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT STOPS AT THE 12 O'CLOCK POSITION. NOTE THE NOTCHES IN THE COMBINATION CHANGE SLEEVE MOVES AS THE SLEEVE IS MOVED.

8.) TURN THE SPANNER WRENCH COUNTERCLOCKWISE BACK TO THE NINE O'CLOCK POSITION UNTIL IT STOPS. REMOVE THE SPANNER WRENCH.

9.) TURN THE OUTSIDE DOOR KNOB CLOCKWISE (ALL THE WAY, UNTIL IT STOPS), THEN RELEASE.

10.) INSERT THE NEW COMBINATION BY PRESSING IN THE BUTTONS. USE AT LEAST three numbers and a maximum of five.

11.) TURN THE DOOR KNOB CLOCKWISE ONCE, ALL THE WAY, UNTIL IT STOPS. HOLD IN THIS POSITION AND CHECK IF THE LATCH IS RETRACTED.

12.) RELEASE THE DOOR KNOB.

13.) TURN THE DOOR KNOB CLOCKWISE ONE MORE TIME TO THE STOP POSITION. AT THIS POINT, THE LATCH SHOULD NOT RETRACT UNLESS YOU USE THE NEW COMBINATION.

14.) REINSERT THE CYLINDER INTO THE BACK OF THE DOOR BY SCREWING IT IN CLOCKWISE WITH THE DF-59 CONTROL KEY (DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!)

REMOVE THE KEY.

A Df-59 key can be purchased at this site:

The spanner wrench (SMPBC201278 Simplex:SpannerWrench $9.00) referred to can be purchased from this site:

Here is the "literature grid" from the KABA website, which has manuals and parts lists for the Simplex mechanical pushbutton locks:

Here's the website to continue your search:

SOURCE: Lost GMA Card for Kaba

When you set up the system, you should have made at least 3 GMA's. Hopefully they did that and there are two other GMA's in a safe place. We keep ours locked up with the other key masters.

If you don't have any GMA's at all, you will have to call KABA. They will give you a reset code to reboot your FDU and then you can make new GMA's. You will have to remake all the other cards as well. It will be like starting over.

Good luck.

Need to know how to re program our kara ilco when i swip the gma card it says card error or wrong card is being used

The Kaba Ilco 1000 lock does not use any sort of card reader for programming--it is strictly a push button lock.

From this link, which you can cut and paste into your web browser:
http://www.kaba-ilco.com/access_control/products/eplex.aspx?id=6
you can search for your model of Kaba Ilco lock and click on the box with the picture of your lock.
This will take you to the page for that particular lock. On the right side of any given page, you will see the heading "Documentation" an under that, a link that says "click here to visit the literature and support page".
Following that link will lead you to a grid of the various lock models, with links to the manuals, etc.
These will be PDF files and will require you to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view them. If you don't have Adobe Reader, : http://get.adobe.com/reader/

You will also find a "Contact Us" link on the first link I gave you, where you can contact Kaba Ilco directly for customer and technical assistance.

I hope I've been able to help. Good luck!

Camera is NOT communicating with computer

If your computer came with Vista preloaded, please try this:

From Control Panel, create a new user with admin priviledges
Log off. Log on as that new user.
Reinstall the program as the new user

This works with some programs, and not with others. I'd be interested to see if this is one of the programs that won't work under a manufacturer's tweaked OEM install, since there are some programs that won't. It may explain why some Vista users can get it working and some can't - those with the full retail or self-upgraded upgrade version won't have the problem since they won't be using specially "tweaked" profiles created by their machine's manufacturer to bypass Windows Vista restrictions on driver updates.

Good luck, and if it works - please post back and let people know.
