The laptop does not boot and doesn't even seem to go through the self test. When laptop is off and ac power connected a orange "bolt" light is flashing in front. When I press the ON switch an orange light shows on the switch and same symbol shows on the front and the orange "bolt" is still flashing. Where do I start looking what the problem might be? Thanks, Nathan
The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:
1.) Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.
2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.
3.) Your battery is faulty.
I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.

Could be a bad mother board or a hard drive..see if you can connect the hard drive with a USB on another machine and run a test on it...

I have had three different laptops, last one an XPS from DELL which did the same thing. Replacing the battery solved all three laptops. How old is the battery you have in there now?

This means something's wrong with your battery. Usually it means you need a new battery.
How long does the battery last, if you use the laptop without the AC adapter?
