I read in the manual using cold water could be the problem which I wash alot of my clothes in hot water and then again I heard that a belt could be broken. Please help
Unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.
the drive coupling is not the hardest thing to replace, but it does require taking the cabinet off, but no special tools.
start by removing the control panel screws and hinge it backwards. next remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet front, sides and top to the base. with cabinet off, you will see the pump and motor, both held on with clips and screws in motor. then once motor is off, you will find the broken drive coupling. the new one will need to be pressed or hammered on the both shafts and put it all back together.
it is a very common part to break and should cost about 15-20 bucks.

I went to take clothes out of machine and found were still wet on bottom. A towel was wedge under the agitator and had to be forcefully pulled out. Now machine will do everything but spin.It appears to sound normal. Is this a coupler problem ?
My Kenmore 80 Series washing machine fills with water and drains. It does not agitate or spin. It stared with banging when it would stop spinning. What could be the problem?
