My cannon finepix S4200 camera wont zoom in or out I also get message "turn of camera and remove lens cap or obstruction from lens" but no lens cap fitted and there doesnt appear to be any obstruction...

The sensor or logic board in the camera must be fooled, or one of them is defect.
When removing and reinserting the battery does not change this, contact a Canon certified repair centre and ask what it will cost to repair this error. Then decide if you want to spend that money for repair or as a start for a new camera.

Fuji finepix

When a camera notice the lens does not move, it is afraid to damage gears or the motor, of it powers down everything involved the lens. It then gives a message as you read.
Because the camera can't know what is casing this, it only can warn.
It "hopes" if it did run the lens to an obstruction, powering it down will relieve the tension. That is way it says power down.
Remove the battery, check the lens barrel if any obstruction is limiting the free movement of the lens. and then replace the battery. switch it on again.
If you accidentally touched the lens, while it was coming out, it could have given the same error. When after switching on the camera, and you are sure you don't obstruct the free movement of the lens barrel, but it comes back with the same error, you should contact a certified repair centre for your camera.

My easyshare C1550 lens is stuck open and the screen says Lens obstructed

Hi,

Try removing the battery then put it back and turn it on. If it still wont close, place the camera facing the ground and gently tap it repeatedly. There might be a debris stuck in the mechanism.

Kodak easyshare c1450 lens stuck open lens obstructed

You need to remove the batteries and remove the memory card. Then reinstall the batteries. Finally, press and hold the "ok" button, the power on the camera. This is a factory reset trick. It fixes approximately 40% of all error messages on the KODAK EASY SHARE CAMERAS. But of course, no one is gonna be kind enough to help somebody out, they just want to take your money!

The lcd screen keeps reading lens obstructed. lens will not close

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens obstructed errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

When turning on there are several buzzes and the lens goes in and out then closes and screen reads "lens error!" in red

There is dirt or an obstruction in the lens telescoping mechanism or the lens cover that is preventing it from working properly.
Try clearing it with compressed air.
Otherwise, you need a professional to repair the camera. You can find a service center on the manufacturer's website.

If this helps, please vote for my solution.
