I have purchased, from sony, the Tonearm assembly unit. Part No. 988511772. No instructions were included. I do not have a clue on installation. Installation instruction were not included and are needed. Sony PS-LX300USB. Serial number 8207884. Part order number 167592235. Surely, Sony can do better. Assuming that this is a replacement part then Sony don't tend to supply fitting instructions with these as they are meant to be fitted by Sony authorised service people. If it is some kind of special part that can be fitted by members of the public then you can contact Sony for advice. Otherwise you might be best to take it to a Sony authorised service centre and pay to have it fitted. That way you can be certain it will work correctly.
SOURCE: Sony PS-LX300USB Turntable, one channel not working
Have you tried swopping over the output leads from the turntable to the amp (normally one red and one white phono plug) so they are in each others socket? If you do this and you still get no sound from the right channel it is almost certain to be a faulty amp,or speaker.
If you swop and get no sound from the LEFT channel it is could be either a faulty lead or cartridge.
SOURCE: I need to determine appropriate stylus replacement
any stylus should work i think radio shack sells them for pretty cheap and I know for sure that best buy sells them for cheap thats where I got mine. Best though from what I can remember is diamond tip but very coastly.
SOURCE: PS-LX300USB Turntable: I have hooked up the sony turntable to laptop, but...
Have you though of using a pre-amp? You'll probably need to go turntable --> pre-amp --> soundcard input to get acceptable sound
SOURCE: Is there a mac os x driver available anywhere for
You do not need a driver for mac... just plug the usb cable into your mac... go to sound settings in system preferences and set USB to default audio input device... then install audicity... it is free and open source... play your record and hit record in audicity. done.
SOURCE: My Sony PS-LX520 turntable skips with tone arm not moving
Yep - Just did the repair and it was as stated above. Had exactly the same problem you have and changing this tiny drive belt was the fix. I add more details and another source to find this belt:
I had the same problem and a review of forums and my experience with my own fix indicated that this is almost certainly your problem:
The roughly 2.6 inch (circumerence) drive belt (that connects a tiny motor to the worm screw that moves the tone-arm laterally when it gets the signal) likely needs replacement. Mine was intact but old and rigid enough to keep slipping or hang up the tiny motor. Unplug the unit - take out the 8-10 screws to take off the bottom - remove this little belt - scrub the pulleys with tripled-up sewing thread, and replace with new belt. This is a good source:

$6.50 (paypal available) for 2 belts to reach their minimum, free shipping, arrived in 2 days.
You might also want to clean and lightly grease the rail that the tone arm rides on, but this is unlikely to fix the problem without a replacement belt.
