Burner on electric ceramic/glass cooktop is getting too hot

The large dual burner on my Whirpool electric ceramic/glass cooktop is getting to hot. When it is on low it cooks like it is HIGH, maybe even hotter. Any suggestions?

Large burner elements ignite, and igniter spark fails to stop, then the burner shuts off as if ignition failed. Tiny central burner element does NOT light at any time. Apparently the safety cutoff...

There is a thermistor that must be in the flame area that needs to get hot. When hot it will turn the igniter off and keep the flame on. Check it's location and if it is in the flame then it needs to be replaced. not sure about the central flame problem. could be the switch.

One of the knobs will not turn at all in either direction. How can I get it to turn?

The picture shows a drop in glass cook top (electric) You have to pull the top, disassemble it from the bottom and replace the switch. Most switches have five wires on them L1 L2 which are your hot 240v, h1 h2 which go to the burner(dual burner switch has h3 h4), and p is the pilot. Terminals are marked, just change one wire as you go or mark the wires as you change the part. Make sure your house breaker is off, no power to unit when working on it . Be careful of the glass top when working on it

Crack on the corner - we have a run on the ceramic

Glass on cooktops are not fixable - due to the chance of electrical shocks the manufacturer strongly suggest replacement of the glass.

My electric stove top burner only works on high

This is for the glass top units. well i'm not sure if your problem is with your large or small single burner or the large expandable burner. If it's the large or small single burner replace the burner and if it the expandable also replace the burner. If you have a coil burner replace the infinite switch. Good luck hope this helps you.

Remove ceramic cooktop

grouch, kill the power to the cooktop. You are going to have to remove the mounting brackets from undernieth and push the cooktop up. After it's up from it's installation position remove the side and back screws holding the top to the botom. Remove the burner knobs and it should come apart. Sounds like you have a bad burner switch.
