Seems like some capacitors may be going bad. Fix the problem before it causes more problems. Expensive ones at that!

Sounds like you need to try reseating the lvds cables on the t-con board. This board is located at the top of the set in the center. You will have to remove the metal shield covering the board. Then you will see to flat cables connected to the board, one for each side of the screen.carefully unlock the connectors and remove and replace the cables. If this does not work you will need a new t-con board.I'm not sure about this particular model but sometimes the t-con board is only available as part of the lcd panel assembly.Good luck!

Do these bands appear even when no input is connected to the tv? It will help us isolate whether its an LCD controller problem or a problem with the video processing circuits

I have a samsung 40 inch tv that after it plays for a wile , it makes a loud pop and it losses image except for a speaker icon, but it still has sound. any ideas?

The only help I could provide would involve the electrical components inside the television and possibly the capacitor or other microchip that's faulting, but that is not something I want to encourage the layman to do.

You should probably call Samsung and ask for their advice or assistance; they often offer servicemen on call, but may charge you a fee just to look at the TV.

There is double imaging on my samsung tv, i replaced the tcon board and it still has the double image.

does it go away when the set warms up? or if you tap the set? Sounds like a possible defective LCD panel tab. Samsungs and Sony's are known for this.

Samsung HCN4727W Rear Projection TV, green screen, audio works

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
