Zune freezes I try to pick a new song and then it freezes and I try to hold buttons down or at least to turn it off but it just stays frozen. This is the second time it has done it but this time it won't unfreeze. Last time to solve the problem I just charged it again but this time it's all charged but I put it in the charger anyway and my computer won't even recognize my zune is plugged in. Hecka annoying. So now it's just sitting there frozen.

Have you tried a hard reset? You can do this by pressing and holding the back button and the top part of the zune pad at the same time until the zune restarts.

If you can get the zune restarted you might want to check for firmware updates or try reinstalling firmware. If you are still having issues and the Zune is less than a year old it may be easiest to just send it of to Microsoft.

My 30gig zune is froze and unresponsive. Please help

there is a "lock" button on the top on the left side make sure this switch is turned to off.
Try one or more of these solutions to resolve this problem:
  • The Zune may be locked. Move the hold switch to the unlocked position. It may help to move the switch back and forth. Then press the play/pause button for a second.
  • The battery may be drained.try recharging it
  • To reset your Zune, press and hold the back button while pressing up on the Zune pad. Resetting turns Zune off and on again.

Zune freezes on black screen

I just had this problem. Try an emergency restart. Hold down the <- arrow button (the button on the left) while pressing the up button on the pad. Hold untill it until the zune symbol comes on screen. Hopefully that will fix it, thats what I did...

My zune

If it freezes up hold the pause button and turn it off, then hold down the back button and up on the keypad and it will restart. If for some reason it keeps freezing constantly I suggest you contact zune.

Frozen Zune

Turn it on: if it will stay powered up, hold down on the pad, and hold the back button at the same time: This will turn the device off, thus possibly fixing the problem. (for the record, holding up on the pad while pressing back will reboot the device, but I find this sometimes does not want to take, like in the situation you are having)

I may also suggest plugging it into any give USB port, letting it try to charge again, then, when you unplug it, do the reboot or turn off commands as described above.

Hope that this helps: I would think the system is off, since you say it "turned off" on you, and now when you start it up you get the "i need a charge" battery, but knowing how my 80 gig acts sometimes, it may THINK it is shutting of when it is not.

Frozen iPod Nano

Press and hold the center button while holding down the menu button. This will reboot your Ipod. Check your IPod cable to see if its shorted. If might have transferred a song and crash in the middle of the transfer.

Sansa disk e 260

I had the same problem with mine freezing. It happened when I kept pressing the back track button (on left side) to go back to an earlier song. It then froze in the middle of a song, couldn't hear the song, the time of the song was frozen, etc., and the unit stayed lit, despite pressing all the buttons. I tried holding down power but nothing happened. I read another person's post that you need to hold it down 15-30 seconds. I did this and it worked, you just have to hold it down until it shuts down, which was about 15 seconds as suggested, could be longer for others.
For me, next time I wont keep clicking the tracks repeatedly, I'll simply go out of the song and back to the song I want through the menu.
Thank you for the good posts. Glad I didn't have to mess with the battery like others....

Frozen zune

Charge the Zune using your computer (if you have one) and then when it turns on, then you got it fixed. If it is charged but won't do anything, then press the back button and up on the control panel.
