Top & bobbin thread will not sew

I changed my needle on my Brother VX-808 now the machine will not sew. The top thread is not grabbing the bobbin thread. I have taken the bobbin case out , removed the shuttle and put back. It runs as if it is sewing but it isn't. Thanks for any help.

I have a Brother vx-1250 that is doing the same thing. The needle is the right direction. Was working fine, I changed the bobbin and it stopped working. Have tried a different bobbing, rethreaded, etc. I cant find the solution myself. I love this machine, traded some car rides for it. Works smoothly and quietly for the most part, until this.

Most likely the needle is in backwards. Weird I know, I have no idea why but if the needle is in wrong, it either hits the bobbin and breaks or won't grab the thread at all. Good luck.

Brother sewing machine model vx 1140

Try these suggestions

1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed

2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide

3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case

4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever

5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

6. Also could be a timing problem, and the machine would need to be checked.

My Brother vx-800 is sewing the top thread into the machine, how can I fix it?

try changing the needle
clean under the needle plate & in bobbin area for lint or loose threads
take the bobbin out & re-insert the bobbin in to the bobbin case
if these suggestions don't work then it would be a good idea to have the machine checked

Top threaded needle will not grab bobbin thread so I can begin sewing.

you might check your needle to see if it's bent
check in the bobbin area for any lint or loose threads
make sure there is a bobbin tail at least 2 to 4 inches long
hold the top thread tail ( at least 2-3 inch tail) as the needle goes down
to pick up the bobbin thread

Brother VX 1100 will not pick up bobbin thread...have cleaned and oiled machine and replaced bobbin case, could it be timing? It sure looks like it wants to work but just wont grab the bobbin thread.......

Replace the new needle, making sure the flat side is to the back of the machine.

Hold on to the top thread as the needle lowers and raises.

If it does not catch the bobbin thread, the timing may need adjusted.

You can find a graphic for adjusting the timing at sewusa.com, or take the machine in for service.

Needle not grabbing the thread

Place a new needle in the machine with the flat side to the back.

Raise the presser foot.

Turn the handwheel until the take-up lever is at it's highest position.

Set the top tension to 5.

Re-thread the machine.

Brother VX-1120- The needle is not picking up bobbin thread.

I had the same problem with my brother vx-1120 sewing machine. I set the needle to lowest position by using the hand crank. Then I loosened the knerled set screw that holds needle in place. Then I moved needle shaft till the eye of needle is just lower than the hook on the shuttle loop maker. It made my mechine work. There are instuctions for ajusting timing on machine but I think these mechines are built to not fix and throw out. Just because there where no ajustment marks at all on machine, any machanical machine will needed to be ajusted sometime.

Brother sewing machine cs6000i. Less than one year. The upper thread wraps around the bobbin caseing and jams.

check you tension on the top thread and see if you have it threaded the right way. Also see if the indent of your needle "the indent down by the hole on the needle" is facing the hook by your bobbin case that grabs the thread when it comes around.
