I ask a question yesterday about a flotec 1 hp pump. How do I know if I need to rebuild the pump or if my well has got to low on water?

How deep is the well can you hear the pump working.or are you able to pull the pump up to inspect it.or can you place ahose down the well to be sure that water is down there, some pumps have a pressure sensor so when theres no water it switches of so as it does not opperate dry, because this will damage the seals in the pump, hoe this helps.

SOURCE: 3/4 pump -is pumping water - but a a slow pace

Re prime the pump. Make sure the suction line is completly flooded so it will take a good suction from the well.

SOURCE: Flotec pump smells like burning plastic

What size cable are you using to provide the supply

Voltage is one thing current is another

Thin cables will not provide the current to run the motor in its proper environment and will cause it to get hot.

On the rating plate of the pump you will find a voltage and current requirement that will tell you what size cable you need for your area ie 110vac or 240vac

Also need to allow for the distance the pump is from the main supply , the longer the run the thicker the cable is the rule as there will be fall off in performance if the cable is not up to it.

SOURCE: Pump stopped working while pumping

Yes, most motors are thermally protected. It is usually bi-metallic, and resets itself.

SOURCE: I have a Flotec FP 4022-10 3/4 hp shallow well

If heating up, the motor thermal switch is opening to shut down the motor; this is by design. During the brief run time does it pump at all? It sounds as if there may be mechanical issues on the pump itself and the motor (from the extra draw) is heating up and shutting down. I'd look in to the pump to see if anything had failed within it.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

I got 1 year old flotec 3/4 hp pump and it take

I have had the same problem there are a few things that can cause it to take longer to shut off, if you are running a sand point well that's usually a sign that the sand point is clogging up,if you have a sistern or a dug well check the screen on the end of the suction pipe, another possible cause is the water level has dropped low enough the pump is having to work harder to pull the water up, you should also check your pressure tank and the points for the pump if the points are sticking the pump will keep running till it builds enough pressure to trip them.Check for leaks in the suction line, if it is sucking air that would cause it to run longer to.I hope these suggestions will help fix the problem. Have a great weekend

Low water flow

sounds like air is trapped in the system somewhere. that is why any pump will surge. check the lines going in to make sure it isn't sucking air somewhere along the way and make sure the discharge line is clear so it can pump out fully.

Motor running but not pumping any water, why?

You very well could have a bunch of Sediment on the Intake for the Water OR The water table has Drpped Below the Pump.
