Our Samsung HL-P4663W DLP is makes noise and shuts off

Purchased tv January 2006. Our first problem was that the tv shut down with all 3 indicator lights showing green. Referred to manual, which said the bulb needed to be replaced. Bulb was definately burnt out. Replaced bulb April 2008, then a few months later the tv starting making a very loud whinning noise eventually shutting tv off. Checked bulb seems OK. Reset TV, turned on and still a whinning noise, but evetually a good picture came on again only to shut down 10-20 minutes later with same whinning noise. After turning it on and off several times it never came back on. Checked bulb again, it seems fine. I called repair shop who said they are hearing about alot of Samsung problems lately. Repair tech seems to think it is a color wheel issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. THX - Bill

It is the color wheel, inside the light engine. The bearings get dirty and makes it harder for the wheel to spin causing that whin.

Tv shuts itself off

Look for the computer processor inside the TV. It needs to be cleaned. A can of compressed air will work. The processor is overheating and causing the tv to shut off. Look for the small fan that is supposed to keep the processor cool then remove the dust.

Good luck!

HL-S5687 DLp tv

your keeping a part that is warming up and shuts down your shutdown that protects the tv from burning up... cooler... to find this you might need a hair dryer or a can of freeze mist.
I believe the left side is your high-voltage section.
you can also let it warm-up without the fan .. let it shut down and feel parts with set unplugged to see what is running hot.

you have the same problem I have. The problem is fixed by changing the new light bulb. The problem appears again after 1500 hours of use. You can keep buying new light bulbs or avoid it by not buying another Samsung TV.
