Just purchased a ASUS AH3650 for a 848P-A motherboard cpu. Installed software as directed and get very high quality picture, but no sound. Have downloaded updates for Realtek AC97Audio and every other thing under the sun I can think of. Still no luck, PLEASE HELP!
OK, ASUS is the video card, and the MOBO is from ECS...Which makes great boards BTW, I've had one for about 4 years now, put it through hell, and it won't quit. Anyway. If you're trying to get sound from the asus...you may want to make sure your HDMI standards are compatible on both ends. There are at least 3 standards thatI know of, and the drivers may not support one or the other properly. Also, the asus website offers certain utilities for downloading.
I know this isn't much help, but maybe something will click when you check this out. I've read some reviews on newegg, and you aren't the only one with this problem, which is usually indicative of a general compatibility issue the manufacturer overlooked, or forgot to address in the setup instructions.
you may also want to double check your cards setting, just to be sure that something wasn't overlooked in haste.
Go to your audio panel(the place where you usually mute sound from the PC) It's usually a little speaker by your clock, and double-click it. Go into the options and make sure everything is displayed, there may be many, then make sure everything is off of mute. I just read the part about Realtek audio I hadn't seen that before for what ever reason. You might want to temporarily disable the onboard sound in your bios. Realtek doesn't always play nice with other sound devices. I have a creative audigy in mine, and I always have to go into the windows settings and uncheck it when I'm having very specific sound problems with my recording applications. After a while I just disabled it in the bios, and I had no more problems. I'm in Jersey, and going to sleep. I'll check to see how you did in the morning. I hope I helped.

Don't know. All the motherboard has on it is that number
ECS
Using a Onkyo TX-SR606 AV receiver which I have set up for HDMI audio and video from that input. All other HDMI inputs on receiver are hooked up the same way and working. Have been to ASUS site and have downloaded numerous items. Can you be more specific on the standards you know of? Thanx!
It shows up in control panel under sounds as HDMI audio. Even shows it moving up and down on the sound meter.
Is it an ECS or an ASUS. In the title you have Elite group, which is the company that makes ECS boards.
