Over-all too many problems!

This is one big disappointment!
The motor for the beater bar will not engage most times when I turn it on.
Recently, the cap hinge on the bottom of the collection cylinder broke off and now there is not enough suction, without the beater bar using the attachments.
I have many allergies and thought I had the best solution for cleaning. I've had it less than 9 months.... and it's also quite heavy to push and maneuver.
I'm SO ready to try a new vacuum....but what!??

I have a Dyson dc15 animal which the beater bar does not work. Motor and switch were tested and work, removed any obstruction from bars and engaged the clutch and still not working. Any suggestions?

There is a motor just for the beater bar, and a belt that connects the motor to the beater bar...either your motor is bad or your belt is broken

Replaced drive belt for beater bar, but now beater bar motor will not engage/turn on.

The most likely problem is something was not put back together properly in the clutch. You can move the belts by hand with the clutch out of the machine. Move the motor belt and switch the lever off and on and see if the brush belt is turning on and off. It not you will need to take the clutch apart and reassemble it. Test it before installing.

My beater bar will not turn. The motor runs but

This certainly suggests the clutch has packed up, although it is possible that the belt that runs from the motor to the clutch has failed (I assume you've checked the other belt, as it's very easy to see). Changing the clutch, and the motor-to-clutch belt, is not a job for the faint-hearted. If you want to see what's involved go to www.dysonmedic.com scroll to the bottom of the page and click on DC07 clutch replacement.

WHEN I TURN MY VACUME ON IT SOUNDS FINE, WHEN UPRIGHT. WHEN I GO TO MOVE IT TO HOOVER IT MAKES A SCREAMING NOISE. CAN U TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG PLEASE AND HOW TO FIX. THANK YOU

When the vaccum is upright, the beater bar is not engaged. When you tilt the handle back, the clutch engages and the beater bar begins to turn.

There are two likely possibilities for the "screaming noise". First, and most likely, is that the beater bar cannot turn because of a build up of debris or the beater bar is broken. In eaither case, the clutch belt is spinning on the non-moving beater bar causing the noise. Remove the beater bar, inspect for hair, carpet fibers or other items wrapped around the bar. Also inspect for cracks in the plasitc at the ends of the bar. Clean or replace the bar as needed.

The second possible cause is the clutch assembly. If you were unable to fix the problem with the first solution, it is time to take the vacuum in for service as replacing the clutch is somewhat difficult.

Here is a YouTube video link that will walk you through the process of removing the beater bar as well as the clutch if you decide to go it on your own: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_CtaFcc5HU

Hope this helps.

Beater bar motor will not engage

Check your clutch to make sure it's engaged. There should be a knob on the foot of the vacuum that can be turned to stop the roller.

Beater Bar/Brush Won't Turn

Sometimes dust, lint and thread can work its way into the bearings on both ends, take the beater bar out and see if you can turn it in your hand,if it doesn't inspect the ends and clean them.Use what ever you can find to pull out the threads.Or take it outside and hose it off.

Beater Bar Does not turn

YOU MAY HAVE A POSSIBLE BAD BELT OR THE MOTOR THAT RUNS THE BAR MAY BE BAD, THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS THE SWITCH THAT TURNS ON THE BAR MAY BE BAD. OR A WIRE COULD HAVE COME OFF THE MOTOR. i THINK YOU DO KNOW THAT THE BEATER BAR DOES NOT RUN WHEN ON WOOD FLOORS.

Beater bar belt too loose

You need a new belt, they stretch after awhile and will slip.
