If your network is not using DHCP, you must manually assign an IP address. One of the easiest ways is to use the Print Server Setup. Utility on the drivers CD.
1) Install the psadmin software if you have not already. If you have lost the psadmin software then search for it on the web. 2) Start the psadmin software and click "factory reset". 3) If the software demands a password, try "SYSxxxx", where xxxx stands for the last four digits of the MAC address located on the underside of your server. (Example: if your MAC address were "63 XE 29 44 F2 96", then your password would be SYSF296.) 4) Click yes to confirm the reset.
B)
On the back of the print server you will find a pin hole, insert a paper clip for 30 secs with the print server powered on. All lights will flash. Try to setup the server again.
You can do of course, but just remember that the life of any electronic device equates to the amount of time it is on, so by leaving it on you are reducing its lifespan (maybe by only a tiny bit) and wasting energy.
If components are left on for a long time then there is a chance that they start to heat up, and heat eventually means failure for circuitry.
You will need to use Lexmark's MarkNet N7002e print server. Check this link: http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/product/home/500/0,6970,204816596_653399458_253501940_en,00.html?tabId=7
Does your network have a dedicated computer server and the printer is attached to this server or is the printer attached to a dedicated print server device? OR Does a computer on your network shares its printer with other computers on your network? There is insufficient information on how you configured your printer setup for me to give you a proper answer to your problem.
You can reset the MarkNet X2000 to factory defaults - which includes resetting the IP address to 0.0.0.0 like this: 1. Press and hold the Test button until all four lights stay lit simultaneously, then release the Test button. 2. When #3 and #4 lights light simultaneously, press and release #1 (the Menu button). 3. When #3 lights press and release #1 (the Menu button).
4. At this point the X2000 print server has been restored to the
factory default settings and should have an IP address of 0.0.0.0.
