Search Viewsonic.com. The Windows generic driver usually works. If you have a special video driver for your Samsung, it may be interfering. Multiple monitors have to be set up through your display driver. The viewsonic should be available through the device manager.
Try reconnecting the video cable to the PC and monitor. Try using a another video cable. Try connecting the monitor to another computer to see if the monitor is faulty.
Sounds like like the viewsonic has seen it's better days or the Video Card in the computer is bad. To isolate the problem try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays correctly, then your original ViewSonic is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same as your original ViewSonic, then the Video Card in the computer is bad.
Right Click on your desktop go to Properties (for xp) or Screen Resolution (win 7 and vista) lower the screen resolution. What the error means is that the resolution is too high and the monitor cant handle it.
Remove the second monitor entry in Device Manager, and let the machine try to find the driver. I swear, sometimes, computers have minds of their own! ??
Dear maynardkb,
Try to right click on desktop, choose properties.
When Display Properties appear, click on the setting tab, you have to choose the related display to make the viewsonic work and allow it to run.
If I understand You are using a Monitor connecting the Monitor...
and the background is shared byboth the display however the Cursor stays only on one of them at a time. However it can be toggled among the 2.
If yes,
then this Feature is called the Extended Display.
Use the same Key Combination that you would use for external Display one More time and it should Work.
