Microwave My GE JES1039 microwave starts randomly beeping and the controls display reads "F3". The buttons do not work and I then have to unplug it to reset it. I can use it immediately, but it returns to the beeping and "F3" readouts soon. What is wrong?

everything works all right. it just keeps beeping once every minute. i've done the power off power on thing. i've reset the day/date and the reminder function also. this happened to the previous owner when we walked thru the house on closing day. all the previous owner had to do was "key in" something from what i remember

My F3 keeps coming up on the screen. I have unplugged and tried to reset that way but after a couple minutes the alert comes back. I did hit the clear button and reset the clock and about 3 hours later the F3 alert came back on along with the beeping.

    What can I do?

F-3 display stays on. No other buttons work and microwave will not function. I try to clear it by unplugging it. When re-plug in, PF displays and then F-3 display comes back on and beeps.

F3 occurs if the controller detects a key shorted for more than 60 seconds. Luckily, on this model, the "keypanel" as it's called is available as a separate part. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering the model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 The "keypanel" is shown as reference number 44 on that exploded view.

Replace all the electrolytic radial capacitors on the PCB behind the panel. Problem solved. I am guessing that they used cheap capacitors. Although they are marked 105 degrees C they are out of spec. Fitted new caps - working 100%.

GE Microwave displaying --F3--

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorting keypad / controls.

There's a chance it can come on by itself and run unattended, which can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open.

On this model, the keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to replace the entire controller assembly.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you disconnect the wires and install the new controller.

You can order part number WB07X10903 here for $114.37 (compare that to $174.75 direct from GE!).

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I have the same problem. However when I unplug the microwave from the wall outlet, let it sit for 10 seconds, then weird codes appear on the top line. Reset the clock and it shold work just fine.

Spacemaker beeping loud and f3 message driving us crazy

The error code F3 indicates an oven sensor problem. The oven sensor is most likely the failed part. The oven sensor probe must have the correct resistance readings at specific temperatures. When the electronic range control (ERC) cannot identify the correct resistance of the oven sensor or the resistance is way out of specs F3 will display.
I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.

I have a GE microwave. The display panel says F3 and the microwave beeps and will not run. If I unplug it it will then work if you use it right away. But then it will display F3 again and beep and not work...

I had the same problem. I removed the grill and opened the control panel as I read an answer from "GENE" on APP (Appliance Pros) that this indicated a short in the circuit board (TouchPad). I was going to replace the faulty circuit board but when I opened the control panel there it was......One wire harness had just came unplugged!! I plugged it in, reassembled and the microwave works again!
