Do u mean your web cam doesn't even get recognized or it doesn't work properly? Like what message you are getting when you try to access your web cam through your application. If it says no web cam detected, then make sure you have installed the proper drivers for your web cam model.
Go to device manager uninstall the driver for the web cam then after that download the latest driver for your web cam in the support website of dell. Then, install it if that doesn't work. Access BIOS of your laptop that will be f2 on the start up of your computer check if the web cam is detected. If it is reinstalling the application of the web cam can help, If it is not detected and after you've tried the all the things that I've told you it's either you end up erasing everything on your computer or replacing the web cam which is integrated in your LCD.
just attach it to the usb port in the pc and it will detect and said to provide him the cam driver and giver him the driver and it is install and ready for use.
some web cam are plug and play the dont need and driver just attach it to the usb port and after few second the are ready to use.if the pc is not detecting the cam on the port it mean cam is damage.
Try a different USB device...see if the PC detects it. If other devices, like a flash drive run, then your web cam is dead. You can try the web cam on a friends computer to see if it's ok.
If the web cam is good, and no USB devices work in your USB slot, You can check the USB controllers in the "Device manager"
right click "My Computer" select "Manage" select "Device Manager"
Click the + sign for "Universal Serial Bus controllers" Do you have any errors?
I hope this points you in the right direction...Good Luck!
Having some trouble with your computer recognizing your web cam huh? well first of all if its a new web cam usually they all come with an installation CD. All you have to do is use that CD before you plug in your web cam. If you don't have the CD of course takes a little more effort but its not impossible to find the Drivers for you web cam. I don't know what kind of web cam it is therefore I can't provide you with an exact website where you can find the drivers and most of the time you can download them for little or or no cost at all. So if you need me to find out where you can get a hold of sites where you can download the drivers for your web cam all the info i need is the maker of the web cam and the model. Thanks for using FixYa.
If you have a plug and play OS it should have detected the web cam then asked for drivers. try connecting the cam to other PC and lap top they detect the cam it may be a hardware problem if not the web cam maybe defective.
