I have a dell dimension E510, with standard issue mouse. For a few days the mouse has been freezing up randomly, alot. Sometimes i will get a "USB device not recognized" pop up, that goes away quickly, and may or may not return just as quickly.
I have moved the mouse to a different USB port, and am getting the same issue.
Interestingly, I just bought a wireless optical mouse (a generic brand), and IT has issues as well- the cursor like to travel to the right. Constantly. So I unplugged the wireless and re-plugged in the wired mouse, and am not getting this freeze issue.
Sometimes moving the mouse will unstick it, most times it takes about 15-20 seconds. But the frequency is the annoyance. It happens non-stop.
I checked my device manager, and it says all my devices are working properly, and am reluctant to reinstall or update any drivers until I get a better opinion.

completely depends on what you are using it for, if you are just using it as a standard user for listening to music, gaming etc any 5.1 PCI card will do. If you want to use specialist software for editing etc you may want to go up market?
The Dimension e510 does not have ps2 assigned ports only usb, plug your usb mouse keyboard ect to any usb port you like, I promise it will work fine :)

Click OK. Restart the computer.Check keyboards’ functionality. Thanks paul7of9
if the power button was blinking amber, unplug your tower, and hold the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute, to use any excess power stored in the capassitors in the pc. this was told to me by a dell tech, it is a small issue with the 3100=E310, and 5150=E510 Dimension desktops
