My Panasonic PT-47X54J won't turn on at all

Haven't been used in a couple years but worked perfectly fine yesterday and today it wont turn on at all. There was a lot of dust in the back so i used a blow off duster to remove all the dust and still didn't work, unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in and still nothing. Opened the back to check if any parts were out of place and everything was fine.

The power indicator should blink 1-5 blinks when it wont power up. If you let me know how many blinks your getting I can assist with the problem.

5 blinks is telling you that IC4511 on the DG board is faulty. This is not serviceable you will need a new DG board the part number of that board is TNP2AA126

It worked before on a different set see if r517 is burnt if so replace it with a 10k carbon 1/4 watt resistor.

SOURCE: My Panasonic PT-47X54J turns on when the power

Three blinks is short protection. 98% of the time in this model it means one of the two convergence IC chips has shorted and is bad.

There is a easy way for you to confirm this: inside the set with it unplugged look for the two STK-392-110 chips this set uses--they are black in color--2 1/2 wide and 1 1/2 tall and on metal heat sinks with fins side by side.

They will have the STK-392-110 NUMBER printed on the front of them in white letters. In front of them are about a dozen light blue colored resistors--most will be marked 2.2 ohms---look to see if ANY of them are discolored or slightly white in the middle--if you find even ONE discolored you have found your problem.

Both chips and any bad resistors need to be replaced and the set adjusted with the Panasonic remote.

I have START TO FINISH, STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR IN THIS SET.

The instructions tell you all that you will need to do the repair and I can tell you the best seller on Ebay to buy the chips from. This repair takes about a hour or so to do----I have done hundreds of them.

You can buy all the parts for this repair for less than 30 dollars--shops are going to get 300 or more for this repair.

If you have questions or want the instructions rate this solution as I do this here for FREE.

Correct convergence ic chip for panasonic PT-47X54J

Original is stk-392=110

It works fine and you can use the 150 which is a higher current device--forget using any others===the chips fail not because they cannot handle the current but because the heat sink compound which transfers heat from them to the heat sink dries out over time from the heat being transferred in the normal process.

Make sure you get all the old white grease off and clean the metal with alcohol etc---old grease left behind can actually inhibit the transfer of heat.

Pretty simple but a lot of folks seem to miss that fact.

Always someone who wants a BIGGER or more POWERFUL part---either chip will have a five to eight year life on average (heat compound will be dried out again by that time.)

Panasonic cinema vision, model pt-47x54j, I noticed on the back cover that there is a spto for an exhaust fan, can I install one & where do I plug it in?

You really don't need a fan on the CRT rear projection tvs. Because there design to handle high temps. The only part that really breaks down from heat is the convergance ic's. And if your worried about thermo break down I would suggest putting better quality heat transfer paste on the back of the ic's for better heat transfer. Other than that I would not to connect a fan to the electronics of the tv because of the extra load that fan will have on the power supply.

Panasonic PT-47X54J Not working

I can't tell you how to fix this set, but I can tell you that its not a "lamp" issue as this doesn't have a lamp. Its a 3 picture tube projection TV. the three tubes are in a red green blue format, and average about $175 for each one, not including the labor to install them. your problem, may not be the tube, but just a power supply problem, but there is a chance it is.
