TV will not turn on, 3.15amp fuse keeps blowing on power board

The TV is 2 years old, and yesterday it did not want to turn on, no light, no sound...nothing. Opened the back to look at the capacitors and they all look fine. checked the two fuses (the 6.3amp is fine but the 3.15amp is not). changed the 3.15amp fuse but the TV still did not want to turn on. Checked the new fuse and it went bad again. I really want to try to fix the problem myself but not sure what I need to look at next. Please help

Ok here more details about the problem:

My samsung LN40B630 will not turn on, no light, no sound, no picture. I checked the Power Board and found out that the 3.15a fuse was blown, I replaced it and pluged the TV but it did the same thing. Before I try to find a new Power Supply Board (BN44-00264A), I wanted to know what would cause the 3.15Amp fuse to blow but not the 6.3amp fuse which is closer to where the current comes in. All the capacitors look fine, and I do not see anything unusual on the board. Thank you

SOURCE: Samsung TV won't turn on- trying to fix it. A challenging problem

I had the same problem. I live in NJ and called the local authorized "service provide" listed on the Samsung website. What a joke. Quoted $350 just to show up, never showed up. So I opened my own TV. Took off the plastic back (10 screws) took off the large metal RF shield (12-14 screws) and noticed a blown component. The markings on the component were KL15L and it is apparently an NTC Thermistor. Obviously it got fried and not knowing if there was other damage I decided to set out to replace the entire Power PCB Board Assembly and not the component. There were two part numbers on the assembled board (BN97-00457E & BN94-00622E). After searching online I also found a suitable replacement number for these (BN96-04896A). I found two places who claimed to have the part or have it on order (shopjimmy.com and vancebaldwin.com). After placing orders with both and having neither come through, I broadened my search and found out that the LNR409D was basically the same model as my LNR408D so I looked for its Power PCB Board Assembly part number which turned out to be BN41-00521B. Google search for that part number showed the item available on ebay. I bought it a week ago (ebay 260311519904) for $144 plus $12 shipping. I removed the bad board an hour ago (6 screws about 7 connectors) installed the new one, plugged in the connectors, replaced the covers, plugged in the TV... AND IT WORKS!
Suggestion: If your TV is out of warranty then open it up (what have you got to lose) and see if the problem is obvious and maybe something you can fix (replace) yourself. The parts, spare boards, etc. are out there if you look.

SOURCE: Samsung TV won't turn on. Red light is solid, won't blink when pressed. All capacitors seem fine (none swollen or vented).

That model is covered under a class actions lawsuit settlement over bad power supply boards. You need to contact Samsung about this and get a warranty claim started, even if the original warranty is over the settlement terms will cover parts and labor. You can get additional information about this along with contact information here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-has-reached-a-settlement-in-class-action-lawsuit-over-faulty-tv-power-supplies/

Keep blowing the main fuse.

To which circuit section did you replaced the fuse? Main power retulator? Just understand, the fuses are used to protect the circuit and TV from any short circuit or over voltage. Without any one of these, no fuse will blow up. If it was due to over voltage, the set should work after a fuse replacement. But here, the fuse blow up again, means, there is some thing shorted component/s. Check which component is shorted, and replace it, before replacing an other fuse. One more thing to say is, never insert a fuse other than specified. The voltage and ampere specification to fuse, will be marked at the circuit board, very near to the fuse clamp. Insert a fuse of same rating only. Using other fuse, rated higher ampere rating, might make things worse.

Blowing fuses in power supply

One thing to check, would be the filter capacitator that is on the front circuit board. They are known to become shorted. The cap is fairly large, and may be mounted on the side of the circuit board that faces the front panel. Clip one lead, and apply power. If the fuse does not blow, then that is it. A second possible component, is the polarity protection diode, that is near the power jack, next to the fuse. If it is shorted, then the fuse will blow every time.

Sony FWD-42PV1 -

I diagnosed the same problem on my FWD-42pv1 as a problem on the Y-SUS board. The fuse on that board was blown, and the board itself was bad (replacing the fuse was not enough to fix it). The symptoms were exactly the same - the LED cycling red/green, and then finally stuck at red.

With a new Y-SUS board, the TV has been working fine for a couple months.

Main fuse blown on CT-32G11 32" Panasonic TV, Replacement fuses continue to blow.

If the main fuse keeps blowing, check the horizontal output transistor for a shorted condition and diodes in that section as well.
