Clarion & Sirius Radio reception

We have a Clarion Marine radio - '06 model with Sirius Sat ready. Sirius has their black antenna box there and the white outdoor dome on the outside of our boat. We can only get one station - SIR 184 - their generic station, but we can't get it to change channels or get any sound from there. The radio and CD player work just fine. Called SIrius and they say we have to be on a FM station of approx 88.1... that did not work Called CLarion and they said we are missing a FM Tuner. Called our Boat dealer who sold us the boat and they said there may be a pea green cover over the antenna plug in that needed to be snipped off to get the antenna to provide better reception. There was no covering over the CoAx plug in. None of the above worked. Please help with some other suggestions.

This radio is SiriusXM *READY*. You will need to purchase and install the *optional* SiriusXM-Connect Vehicle Tuner kit (tuner, antenna, cables, hardware) specific to your radio - linked below:

Have a 2007 Jeep Commander. Sirius is intermittent and will flip over to FM frequently

First question is if you ever spilled a soft drink into the radio such that the AM/FM/SAT switch gets sticky?
2nd, do you have any way to pull-out the radio and borrow a magnetic-mount Sirius antenna to temporarily test and see if the antenna on the vehicle is bad?
If passing the first two tests, then it's likely the whole radio unit has to be replaced with a model from a similar year. Actually, the audio quality you get from an XM Onyx will be much better than the Sirius radio in the Chrysler vehicles, and you can just use the AUX input on the radio for playback.

My sirius reciever in my boat worked fine until this year now it wont work antenna is only two years old and it is a high quality marine antenna could it be the reciever it is hooked to a clarion radio...

Oxidation from humidity could have tarnished a connector somewhere. Make sure all connectors are clean and shiny first. It could be that the receiver is bad. A stereo shop should be able to check that for you easily.

Reception

Check your antenna wire to see if it is spliced or cut. If you do not recognize a problem still you can usually get very good help from calling Sirius. They have been good about trouble-shooting and repairs.

Jensen MSR4050G Sirius Ready marine radio

I had the same problem and there are a couple of reason why you may not be able to get into Sirius Mode.

  1. You have the wrong type of antenna (it must be a Sirius approved antenna)
  2. You may not have installed the tuner (most Sirius ready units need require that you have a tuner hooked up to your unit to get satellite reception. The tuners are specific to your unit, so make sure you but the correct one. This is quite sneaky on Sirius’ part…but good luck).

Reception

"Sat" stands for satellite signal. "Ter" shows the signal from a terrestrial repeater. It's not uncommon to have 0 bars on the Ter setting. Where is your antenna placed?
