Cable Set-Top Box remot won't change sound vol. Only TV Rem. does

After programming the STB remote to control HDTV, the video functions operates, but the sound does not. Yes, the volume was programmed, i.e. press Cbl+SEL simult. , press Vol+ 'till light blinks twice. Indeed by moving the STB remote vol. up and down does move the cable volume bar on the screen, but the sound does not change. Why? The sound volume can only be changed through the TV remote.

They volume indicator you are seeing is meant to show the volume of content if it were to be recorded on the cable's dvr. This indicator has no effect on the volume of content as it is being watched. This feature allows recording of sound at a set volume even while the tv is off. It sounds as though you'll just have to use the volume buttons on your tv's remote, though you might want to try seeing if there is alternative set-up for those cable volume buttons.

I have started setup for hd cable. Am connected to hdmi and have picture and sound but am unable to change channels. What do I need to do.

With the HDTV set for an HDMI Input that matches the HDMI Jack that you've connected to the cable HD STB (set-top-box or "converter"), use the cable STB remote to change channels on the STB - not the TV.

You can not change channels of the STB with your TV remote. You may however, be able to program your STB remote to operate your TV. Most will allow you to power the TV on / off; volume up / down / mute; change input (HDMI1 / HDMI2 / ANT / Composite / etc.) and even some of the more complex functions as well. Contact your cable company for more details.

My problem is with my remote control...either cable remote or TV remote can only do one function -sound on channel selection my cable box (cablevision scientific atlantuc 4250HD) is programmed....the...

Set your device with an other set up code and then check. Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
ā€¢ If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
ā€¢ Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.

I have a viore tv dvd combo need codes for it

You probably have the same problem that I found after I'd purchased my Viore TV (LC 26VF59), your cable box remote or dish network remote doesn't have the Viore codes built in. Bummer. I looked around and couldn't find codes for my Viore. Doubt you'll find them for yours. Here's a helpful suggestion I read about that works for me:

I bought for $20.00 a Sony RM-VL600 Easy Learn remote control from my electronics store. It's EZ because you only have to place the Sony head to head with the Viore remote, press TV setup and follow Sony's instructions to have its remote catch and learn the codes from your Viore remote. I only programmed my Sony for the Power On/Off, Vol Up/Down from my Viore remote. You back out of Setup and now your Sony will control the TV for those functions. Next you get your cable box or satellite remote put it head to head with the Sony remote, press the CABLE or SATELLITE set-up button on the Sony and then have it learn all the C or S functions you want from that remote. You do program in this mode the Power On/Off button, but you don't program the Vol Up/Down. The volume for the TV will work when you're all finished and operating under the Cable or Satellite button on the Sony remote.

Now, you press the TV button on the Sony and then the Power button. The TV turns on. Now you press the Cable or Sat button and then the Power button and the Cable or Sat box turns on. Like I said, even though now you are operating the Sony remote under the Cable or Sat button the TV volume instructions carry over to this side of the remote so you don't have to switch back to the TV button to raise or lower volume of the TV.

When I'm done watching, I hit the Power off and the cable box turns off. I then hit the TV button and again the Power off button and the TV turns off. So, it's a little inconvenient when starting and stopping, but at least you are using only one remote.

Hope this has helped.

How do u program Bush DFTA13HD STB TV buttons

The following is an extract from the Bush DFTA13HD/ DFTA13HDSIL user manual, page 9;

1. Press STUDY key until Red LED remains lit (for about 3 seconds)
2. Point Converter (Bush) remote control to TV remote control directly, keep the distance about 1~3cm
3. Press the "Power" key at TV/s remote control to send signal to Converter remote control. The LED light will flash till steady. Then press "Power" key at Converter remote control. It will record the signal.
4. Now the Power key can turn on/off TV/s power
5. Repeat settings of learning for the other keys
You can repeat Step 3-4 for setting of learning for the other keys at TV remote control, such as VOL /-, CH /-, and F1, F2 are reserved for any other keys you want to set up.

Note:
1. When you have finished setting the learning keys, press the STUDY key to leave the learning status, and the LED light will turn off.
2. The learning function of this remote control may not support all types of TV sets, if you still can not control your TV after you have attempted the above steps, then this remote control may not support your TV or its remote control.

Philips TV HDMI CEC EasyLink tries to control Cable set top box

I finally found a fix to this! YAY. I thought I might have to return the TV. I have the Phillips 42PFL5603D, but should work for other models.

On the TV press menu picture settings---picture---dynamic contrast (turn off) AND active control, turn off
If you have Comcast Moto box: on the Cable box go menu--->setup--->cablebox set up---RF BYbass set to ON
If you have a non-Comcast Moto Box, I'm sure there is an RF bypass setting in the menu. You'll just have to look for it. Another fix was close saying to only turn of the active control, but it took all 3 of these for it to work consistently. The latter let it work for all of 30 seconds.
