All of the sudden our Sears garage door will open by itself, when no one has pressed either the reomote or wall unit. Then one night when coming home we pressed the remote and the door would go about 3/4 of the way up and then come right back doen. It would do this everytime we pressed the remote or wall unit. I unplugged the wall unit that I think is the sensor, as the opener itself is plugged into the celing. We were finally able to get the car in the gargage. But all of the sudden a couple of days later the door goes up all by itself then comes right back down. Now I am afraind we won't be able to get the car out of the garage without it coming down on the car. I unplug the wall unit again and will still use wall button then use door to get out of the gargae. I am hoping this will work. Any ideas on why it goes all by itself and then won't stay up

We had the same problem. open the unit and checkt the connections. we had a few loose wires and every time there was a vibration whether a low flying plane or a truck nearby the door went up. My husband found a few of the wires had loosened up.

my garage door opens by its self. i have unhooked wires to wall button and still does it. i have changed the code five time. at night door closed,get up in morning and door is open. motor is three years old.
