Wireless connectivity we have a desktop PC with XP with a belkin router and my old laptop with XP connected to it. all works fine, and when i set up the network about 18months ago i made it pretty scure it is all hidden and encrypted with WEP etc. i bought my mum a compaq cq70~116 laptop with vista for her birthday yesterday and i am trying to add it to the network. after much fiddling around i managed to unhide the network and connect the laptop. although it is not properly connected it just says is has limited connectivity on the IPv4 and IPv6. all settings are the same as on my laptop but it still wont connect. i have tried rebootin everything, re-adding it to the network and cant think of anything else to try. please help! it seems a useless present at the moment and i have spent 12 hours trying to sort it out and wishing id never bought it now ha ha

You probably set an access list on your router
connect to Router using a LAN cable and check if you can browse.
Then
Check your access list on router.
Disable it if you cannot add your PC wireless adapter MAC address

My Dell desktop using Windows XP can't connect to my Belkin 5720 router but my laptop still works?

This sounds like a hardware failure, but just in case go to your computer Control Panel-Network Connections(Network and Sharing Center for Vista and above), and check your Network adapter settings. If your Network card is not showing, you may have a driver issue, or a bad NIC (Network Interface Card). It shouldn't matter that your router says" wireless hardware not detected", because you are hardwired from the computer to the router. I would check to see if you may have turned off, or blocked Ethernet connections on your router, I would then change my Cat5 (Ethernet) cable, and finally open the desktop and change out the NIC (Network Interface Card).

My router is connected but my pc cannot get on the internet, says ie cannot display this page? I have XP serv pack3. My laptop is Vista. Laptop works great, only problem is with desktop. Is my ie disabled?

HI,
check in the Belkin Wireless Monitor that the DCHP status is enabled for the desktop PC.
On the PC desktop, select Networkconnections, show existing networkconnections, select your connection, properties, scroll to the TCP/IP settings, select and check properties you should have selected "obtain IP address automatically.
Restart your PC. If you still have problems close down your PC and laptop, unplug modem from electricity, unplug router from electricity, wait 2-3 minutes, put the modem on again, put the router on again, start up your PC and then start up your laptop.
This procedure works always for me if I loose my connections. Does it solve your problem?

Can't connect DSi with same security as comps

hello, yes i had the same problem, but i had it with many other computers, the way i solved it was going into the router settings and click the "restore default settings" then turned the router off for 15 seconds (for a fresh reboot) then when i had to set everything up again i got all my computers on the router and im able to add more without running into that same problem once again, or for a simpler solution try disconnecting the wireless on the computers and replugging them in.... that works sometimes as well

Belkin wireless adapter

Sometimes wireless phones will interfere with the signals. If the router or PC is anywhere near a phone, it might have a problem. I have one wireless network card that gives me fits like that. I have yet to get a PC working with it. I have other wireless cards that work fine. I also switched to 5GHz phones, which helped my old laptop. Check to make sure there's not a conflict with the encryption used by either the dell or the router.

Belkin Modem Router not connecting to desktop

The wireless security on your router might be enabled.

1. In the address bar of your Internet browser, type "192.168.2.1". Then press the "Enter" key.

2. It will prompt for a password to access the Router’s Web-Based Advanced User Interface. By default the password is blank.

3. Go to Security, then Wireless.
- Check the wireless security settings, this should match the settings on your wireless computer.

4. On the wireless computer, you should detect SSID and if wireless security is enabled, connect to it with the correct security keys.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
