My samsung HL-S5086W has a high pitched buzz that is present when muted, and continues for 2 or 3 seconds after you power off. Any ideas? I heard if it continues after power is off, then it is a fan, not...

Samsung BP96-01579A Color Wheelno the fans will not produce a high pitched noise. they will ususally produce a dull noise because they dont spin anywhere near as fast as the color wheel. the color wheel will start up before you see video and stay on for few moments after power down. if the fans were faulty the tv would give you message on screen.

Replaced the lamp in Samsung hl-s5086w and now T.V. won`t turn on but has a high pitch noise coming from back of set.

The high pitch noise is the color wheel that needs replace the noise is coming from a bad bushing that goes to the color wheel and is a common problem.

My Samsung DLP is making a loud humming noise

Most likely if you are hearing a fan like noise from this DLP it is not the fan.

These sets use a replaceable color wheel that before it fails makes either a high pitched whine or a fan like sound.

Part is usually customer replaceable and there are free written instructions and video instructions on YouTube for most models.

Sansung DLP HL-P4674W Is making this loud humming noise and the oicture is now in black and white

sounds like a the color wheel blown. Call a local tv repair shop. Some Samsung models carry two different color wheels for same model depending on chassis version which can be seen only when the back is removed.

THE FAN STARTED WHINING AND NOW THE LAMP WARNING LIGHT IS ON AND IT WONT TURN ON. IS THE FAN A PART I CAN REPLACE MYSELF?

It's not likely the fan - it is more likely the color wheel making that noise and causing your set to shut down. See link for more info

Yes, the Color Wheel would be the only thing left. I am not sure about this exact model but the Color Wheel in other Samsung models are replaceable.

Cooling fan motor is making loud humming noise

You will have to pull out the light engine. That will consist of 4 or more screws and disconnecting some plugs. The the whole unit slides out where you can get to the fan housing.

Unless you're mechanically inclined, you should not try it as you could damage the assembly.

I don't know the part number off hand and some of those have newer part numbers as replacement for the original. Just do a google search to come up with a part number.

Color wheel or fan?

Sounds like the color wheel has shatterd, thats a fairly common problem with that model.
