SOURCE: XP on HP Pavilion dv2000

First of all, this Notebook is installed with SATA Hard Drive and the drivers for the SATA Hard Drive will not be available with retail versions of Windows XP by default.
I recommend you to try using different OEM versions of XP to install in your Notebook which should work.
Since the Notebook is preinstalled with Windows Vista, the XP Drivers for this Notebook are not directly available from HP.
I had searched some for you which should work.
Download the Drivers one after the other and save them with the name along with the Softpaq Number like the example given below :
Microsoft UAA_33566.exe
So that it will be easier for you to save them and identify.
Save the drivers in one location in the Notebook and double click them once the download is completed.
Make sure that you install the Microsoft UAA Drivers before installing the Audio or Modem Drivers.
Make sure that you install them in the same order I had provided them below :
You need to download the Intel Chipset Drivers for your Notebook from the link below :
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16023/a08/infinst_autol.exe

Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) drivers for High Definition audio :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33566.exe

Conexant High Definition(HD) audio :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe

As the Notebook is installed with Intel graphic Card, you need to download the Drivers for the same from the link below :
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16944/a08/win2k_xp14363.exe

Download the Ricoh 5-in-one Card Reader Driver from the link below :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37712.exe

Download Intel PRO/Wireless Drivers from the below weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34489.exe

As I am not sure whether your Notebook is installed with Intel or Realtek Ethernet card, I am providing both the drivers:
Intel Ethernet Drivers :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33574.exe
Realtek Ethernet Drivers :
http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Realtek-RTLRTLRTLRTL-Driver--WHQL-Download-33009.html

You can also try downloading the Marvel Youcon Ethernet Drivers if any of the above provided drivers did not work :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL24713/gs-63707-1/Marvell_Yukon_LAN_Driver_6.36.0.0.exe

Downlaod Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem drivers from the below weblink :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33890.exe

Download the HP Quick Launch Buttons drives from the below weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38688.exe

Download the HP Pavilion Webcam Driver from the below weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33544.exe

Download the Alps Touchpad driver from the below weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33751.exe

Finger Print Reader Driver :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32869.exe

Hope these helps...

Your hard drive may have failed.
I suggest you remove your hard drive and re-connect it to your laptop to make sure it is make proper connection. Boot up and go into the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected.
If the hard disk is not detected then most likely the hard disk has failed.
To get your laptop working, you will need to purchase a new hard disk and install Windows on the new hard disk plus the Pavilion device drivers and your programs,
You can download the device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP orVista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click onthis link to download the drivers: -

Bought HP Pavilion dv2910tx,not able to install Windows XP. Help

If the install cannot detect the hard disk then the hard disk is faulty and needs replacing or the disk controller is faulty.
You can check if the hard disk is faulty by :-
Go into the BIOS and check if there a hard disk diagnostic.
If not then remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can view the contents of the drive then it is OK and the fault is the disk controller on the laptop.
To setup XP.
You insert the Windows CD and boot up the laptop with the CD.
You have done this correctly to get the hard disk error message.

XP on HP Pavilion dv2000

yes

because it's using an AHCI  SATA driver

there 2 ways to install XP on your laptop

  1. If you own an external floppy disk. You can insert the driver before the installation begin. the setup will ask you to insert third party driver by pressing F6 at the first of installation. Press F6 then insert your SATA driver. choose it. then setup will detect your hdd. you can download the SATA driver form here:http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/HP-Pavilion-dv2054ea-SATA-Driver-550.shtml
  2. It's very hard to find an external floppy drive today, unless if you are an OEM or retailler. second way is you can insert the driver to XP installation CD, but it's very complicated. Or you can download a XP installation CD with sata driver here:http://fenopy.com/torrent/Windows_xp_sp3_5512_cdr_october_2008_with__sata_raid_/MTU2MTEzMA==/index.html

XP on HP Pavilion dv2000

For the laptop with no hard drive detected, this is most likely because Windows XP does not recognize SATA drives by default, which the laptop most likely has. To solve this, you will need to enter the BIOS setup utility (most likely Delete or F1 on startup). From there, you will need to change the drive mode to Compatibility mode. I'm not sure where this would be, but if you check in your laptop manual, you can probably find this somewhere.

For the 2519TU, download and install this for the LAN driver: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp30001-30500/sp30264.exe it should work just fine.

Good luck!

Problem on loadind windows xp on hp pavilion dv2000 laptop

That happens because the BIOS uses a SATA controller that is not included in Windows XP install disk.

Usually you can solve the problem going to BIOS settings and changing SATA/RAID settings.Check your BIOS settings, and disable SATA RAID mode. This is done in different ways depending on the BIOS.

On HP/Compaq computers for example you press F2 on startup to enter BIOS, then disable SATA mode on bios settings.
On other makes the procedure can be slightly different.

Another way to fix the problem, is by creating your own XP setup disk with SATA drivers included, see:
Resolving "Setup did not find any hard disk drives" during Windows .
