Problems with Western Digital My Book World Edition

I have Problem with my Bran new Western Digital My Book World Edition 1TB Remote Access Storage System.
I dont know much about computers so be kind!
I connect the ethernet from router to storage system then the power cord to storage system then it powerup on its own then wait about 4 minutes nothng shows with all the other drives" C & D" even after downloading the mionet software the Western Digital My Book World Edition 1TB Remote Access Storage System is not place in the omputer How can i get it to work on both my pc and labtop.???

I have the same drive. It works great with windows XP but with Windows vista has difficulty seeing this type of drive and keeping the connection once it is established. Take it back if you have windows vista and then search for which 1TB drives work well with windows vista. It really has problems with windows vista 64bit. I was able to finally see the drive when I was using photoshop file/browse/network... then I dragged the shortcut Icon to my desktop and access the drive that way from that point on. Mine stopped completely tonight... I think the power cord went bad or something.

How do you delete very directories???

Open My Computer
Open the icon for the WD external drive.
Click once on a directory.
Press the DELETE key on the keyboard.
Click 'Yes' to confirm that you want to delete the whole directory, including its contents.

I have an WDG1NC10000N (Western Digital My Book World Edition 1TB) that was connected fine to my network. Not sure when it stopped being connected, don't access it all the time, but it became complete...

check the 'entire network' sidebar in My Network Places. I installed a new version of Mionet a little while back and it decided to rename my WorldBook and change it to a different network Workgroup without asking me. I freaked out for two days until I saw the other workgroup listed and checked it out. Viola, there was my NAS just waiting for me to find it.

After about 15 months of use with no problems, the compters on my network have all stopped being able to access the MyBookWorld network drive. All can ping it but all when attempting to access get cannot...

Try starting everything from scrtach again.. Check that the drive is fully working... Hope thius helps

Western Digital World Book 1TB - Lights don't light, HDD vibrates

I would try to connect the drive directly into an ide or a sata cable on the motherboard. Maybe using the western digital tools from their website you'll be able to access the data and copy it. I hope this helps you.

I have a home wireless network and am using a My Book World Edition external drive. Three of my laptops can access the My Book but one keeps returning the error network path could not be found. Any ideas...

If all other pc's are able to connect and the one odd pc will not, your problem may be the odd pc's ip configuration. Check the ip addressing in the control panel to correct this. I would recommend making the settings the same as the one from a pc that connects to the My Book connection.

External HDD not working , but can here it running

Have you tried powering it up without connecting it to the computer?
It should at least power up and do something. After that try connecting it to your PC (with the disk powered up already).

You can further check this external drive troubleshooting article, which has some tips on trying to get external disks to work.
