You probably blew the thermal fuse. Here is the part to order.
Remove the back panel and the fuse is located on the bottom left side.

SOURCE: My Electric dryer will not start.

you might have something stuck in the impeller. if there isn't anything stuck, you might require a new motor

SOURCE: GE dryer starts but..... stops

What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.
Thanks/Mike

SOURCE: my Asko T721 Electric Dryer is having drying troubles

Here's the answer:
The dryer has a thermo protection "fuse" that pops-out when the lint filter is not cleaned and air will not flow properly. When the airflow is restricted the dryer gets too hot and the "fuse" pops. Then it will not run unless you stand there and hold the start button in. As soon as you stop pressing the button the dyer stops running.
Clean the filter ESPECIALLY the "internal" filter. This one is behind the lower skirt of the machines face. There are two Torex head screws (T20) to be removed and the skirt comes right off.
Inside you see two red handles that you turn to open the filter door. Open the door and pull out the filter. It is a long metal finned box. Take it to your bathtub and run a ton of water through both ends to remove the lint inside. You'll be surprised at how much.
O K now let's "fix" the "fuse". Here it is likely you will need to pull the machine away from the wall. The fuse is a black plastic button about the size of a penny. It sits in the center of the machine's backside. It faces up a bit and if you have clearance you can reach your arm over the machines top and press it "in" with a finger. It clicks when you do so. This part is a no brainer. The dyer will now start properly.
The hard part to all of this is pulling the machine away from the wall since like me you probably have it sitting on top of an Asko washer. Take your time. You can do it.

SOURCE: Maytag Electric Dryer Stopped Working

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning

Whirlpool dryer will not start had tried to dry shoes in it any suggestions?

let it sit for an hour or so and see if it starts, the shoes shouldn't be put in the dryer, they jam on the side and the drum won't spin and the motor overheats and shuts down the dryer, when the motor cools down it should start,if it doesn't one of the t-stats could have cooked, send model full model number, could have popped the thermal fuse in the dryer.

Dryer is growling when spinning heavy loads.

The bearings may be gone, but I don't know how old your machine is or the brand. If it is over 8 years old, consider replacing it. Maybe get an estimate from a repairman who knows your brand.

it sounds like the problem may be with the door lock. Having shoes bouncing around in the dryer they are bound to hit the door over and over possible causing damage to the lock. Try pushing on the door and holding it shut while you turn on the unit and see if it works.

Any shoe repair shop will have products that can clean this. If it is leather or suede, there is a product here called 911 that is agood cleaner. You may not have that there. Tana and Fiebings make products of this line. You can find them at places in the yellow pages - shoe repair

I was drying towels and shoes and the dryer just stopped. It's a Kenmore elite 1990 or 91. The lights on the panel still come on, but nothing else.

I have a Kenmore dryer, my son put his BIG basketball shoes in to dry and now the dryer runs, has heat and does not spin? Can this be fixed or do I need a new dryer?

I WOULD START BY CHECKING THE BELT. THE IMPACT OF THOSE SHOES MAY HAVE BEEN ENOUGH OF A JOLT TO CAUSE THE BELT TO COME OFF THE PULLEY OR BREAK.
