Clicking noise from Onkyo TX-SR606 during television broadcast

The receiver clicks repeatedly between various audio modes (Mono - Digital 5.1 - Stereo - Mono - Digital 5.1, etc.) during which time no sound is heard. This can happen at any time, and lasts between 1-2 seconds to 10-15 seconds. Quite annoying. Could it be the HDMI cable connecting the Onkyo receiver with the Samsung Time Warner HDTV cable box? Any suggestions?

I seem to recall a sub-menu setting having to do with "auto shut off" or something like that.

My receiver is packed up, ready to take to Fry's, or I would find that submenu for you.

My Onkyo TX-SR606 will not turn off, will not adjust volume, will not change modes, will not do anything but stay "stuck" on cable/satellite at volume 33. It will not reset. I unplugged it, waited, and...

contact onkyo and ask for a disc that you use threw the cd player via a toslink . The disc will upgrade your avr ,thus overwriting any problems you had. My tx-sr705 had an issue with popping during blu ray playback while the dts-master audio was being used. I got a disc that upgraded the chip that utilizes the codec's.

Onkyo tx-sr606 turns off during loud dvd sounds.

It sounds like you have a defective unit. I would contact the manufacturer and ask to RMA it.

Unsure of audio setting using Onkyo TX-SR606 connected to PS3

The PS3 should default to the DOLBY DIGITAL sound output so your ONKYO should be setup to the Digital input, TV logic is a matrix similated multi-channel and I doubt if any PS software is in the DTS audio format, look at your game software disc`s and they will inform you of the audio capabilities.

Can someone tell me what the audio setting on the Onkyo TX-SR606 should be when the PS3 passes the signal as full multi-channel. My receiver always seems to say something different i.e. Dolby Digital or TV...

If you're running an optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver, best quality would be through the Dolby Digital, because that broadcasts in 7.1 HD Audio Format. There should be a way to get a default setting when the optical input is detected in your receiver.

Turns off if sound level is increased

there is a protection circuit kicking in.

First thing to check.....Verifiy that all speaker lines are in correct polarity.

+ and gold or writing/stripe on cable.

Check this all the way around and if the sub is a line in sub,, check that also.

You really should just unplug them all and start one by one.

If you cannot get to the wires or its too hard to access,

hold your hand 1/8 of an inch from the woofers. they should be kicking out, not pulling in.

Could also be a blown woofer somewhere in the system.

Hope that helps!
