My Cuisinart DGB 900 grind & brew makes good coffee, but suddenly the coffee does not fill into the thermal carafe. It simply overflows onto the counter. I have cleaned the lid thoroughly, but still does not fill. Is there a problem with a vacuum seal? How would I fix it?
I was once able to disassemble the top of the carafe and clean it thoroughly. I've had these clogging problems before, and it has not been the filter chamber that is the problem, but the vent in the carafe being clogged. When the air from the inside of the carafe can't be displaced faster than the coffee is draining in, the coffee stops draining into the carafe, fills the top, and spills over the side.
Will probably end up buying a replacement lid, as I can't figure out how to open the top without destroying it. I must have gotten lucky the time I was able to take it apart.
The filter basket is probably damaged - get a replacement filter basket from Cuisinart, or call Cuisinart to be sure. Something is probably preventing the element in filter basket from pulling up to the open position.

The problem is the float valve in the top center of the lid. With normal use it will get caked with coffee residue, and after a time it will become too heavy with these residues to float properly when coffee comes in .. and then it overflows without filling. Look carefully through the slots on top with a bright light and you'll see the residue buildup. Yuk. The lid pries apart easily when firm pressure is applied from the spout end .. just get your thumb in there and pull. It snaps right back together when you're done. Soak the whole contraption in hot soapy water and then give it a thorough hot rinse. That should remove the gunk.
