Typically 'Heat 1' means first stage heat and 'Heat 2' means second stage heat. Essentially a Lo and Hi setting. Just like a hair dryer.

Leave it connected to your computer and try a restart.
If the folder is still showing as empty, power down the computer then disconnect the external drive.

Unable to find a replacement ac adapter. You could try calling Macally directly @ 909. 230.6888 or [email protected] . My experience this will cost you about $20 anyway. It may be worth just picking up a new enclosure. At least you'll have spare parts for everything else. It's $40 on newegg.
