Sounds like your Cable box audio settings are outputting two channels (stereo) instead of five channels (surround). It could be on an automatic setting, meaning whatever the digital audio stream coming from the TV channel is, your Bose system will play audio in that config. Hence why it changed from 5.0 to 2.0.
Go into your Cable box audio settings and change the output to Dolby Digital (or similar). You will also need to be connected via a digital optical cable from your cable box to your Bose 321 to output true digital audio.
If you post the make and model of your cable box I might be able to give you more direct instructions on how to do this if your still having trouble.

My digital tv is saying no singal whats the problem and how do I fix it? we have a huge antenna on our roof

1 – Is the NO SIGNAL issue happening on just one TV?
CORRECT INPUT or SOURCE
If it is just one TV that is showing the NO SIGNAL…
-Be sure your TV is on the correct source or input as your CABLE or SAT BOX.
-Press the TV button on TV remote control to turn your TV ON.
-Press the INPUT button on your TV remote control.
-Cycle through all the inputs on your TV.
-Do this until you are on the INPUT your CABLE or SAT BOX is plugged into.
-You should then see the CABLE or SAT programming show on your TV.
HINT: Your TV will most likely list the TV INPUTS as: HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, VGA, Component 1, Component 2, and so on.
If you still see NO SIGNAL on your TV screen, see the next step below…

2 – If you have your TV on the correct INPUT or SOURCE and you still see NO SIGNAL…
CABLE OR SAT BOX NEEDS RESET
-Remove or unplug the power cable from the Cable TV or SAT set top box.
-Keep it unplugged for 2 to 3 minutes.
-Plug the power cable back into your Cable or SAT set top box.
-Give it some time for the Cable or SAT box to power up, get the signal, and initialize.
If you still see NO SIGNAL on your TV screen, see the next step below…

3 – If you have reset the Cable or SAT box and still have the NO SIGNAL…
UNPLUG THE CABLE GOING FROM THE TV TO YOUR CABLE OR SAT BOX
-Remove the HDMI cable or other cables from your Cable TV or SAT set top box.
-Keep the cable unplugged for 2 to 3 minutes.
-Plug the HDMI cable or other cables back in.
-Give it some time for the Cable or SAT box to get the signal and initialize.
HINT: Make sure all the cables that are connected to your Cable or SAT box and your TV are tight, undamaged, and secured.

4 – If all of your TVs are affected with the NO SIGNAL screen…
BE SURE THE COAX CABLES OR ETHERNET CABLES ARE SECURE or CABLE OR SAT IS DOWN TEMPORARILY
-Be sure to check the ones where the CABLE or SAT come into your home.
-Be sure ALL Ethernet and Coax cables are secure.
-Call your CABLE or SAT provider to see if there is an outage.
-Realign your Dish if you have SATELLITE.

My dog stepped on my remote and now my tv is set at 480 for all channels instead of the 720 like it use to be. My channels are not sharp anymore. How can I fix this

This may have been changed by pressing a button on the TV remote or more likely to be a button on the remote (or device itself) of the a Sat TV, Cable TV converter or other set top box - unless you're using an antenna.

You're looking for a button that is called "Resolution". What source are you trying to watch? Is it Antenna, Cable Box, Sat Box, etc. - what is the make and model of this box and the TV?

I cannot seem to get the tv audio going through the amp, i have connected the red and white audio leads from the tv to monitor out, I've also tried connecting it through cd but to no avail. the audio...

You can't get ANY audio to work on receiver's Monitor Out (which is a component video OUTPUT intended for your TV, not an audio input from it).

Read the manual and get a handle on what those 3 jacks are for (page 6).

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Sherwood-RD-7502-Receivers-manual/id/2536ag207/t/2/

Then, if you really need audio from the TV (instead of or in addtion to the probable Cable/SAT Box that originates TV-related programming), just run the audio out from the TV to any available Line Level audio input. The Cable/SAT box is the BEST place for the BEST TV-related audio and it will be available digitally.

The TV's audio control plays a part in this, too. Find its menu and select a FIXED (or equivalent) setting so you can turn the cruddy TV speakers down without killing the audio output.

Tv has only snowy screen. Used the remote to

What to do if you have an all snowy picture (blue screen or the TV displays unusable signal-no signal or no sync)
1 – If you are using a digital cable box or satellite receiver (make sure it’s on) and be sure your TV is set for either CH3 or CH4 (which ever you usually view it on). If you usually view it through video inputs (video1 or 2 etc.) make sure the appropriate input is selected.
If you still don’t get a signal see if you get picture using the DVD or VCR (if available) if you do than plug the satellite or Dig. Box temporarily into the place of the DVD (unplug DVD) you may have to use some A/V cables (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) to hook to the tv from the sat./dig. box. If you get a signal then the sat./dig box is ok. If not the Sat./dig box is not sending a signal and is either defective or needs to be rebooted (unplug wait 5 min try again).
2 – If you are using standard cable or antenna (source) if possible check that the source is good by connecting to another TV. Otherwise try running the source into a VCR and then out to the TV using video inputs (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) and then selecting the appropriate input. Try seeing if the VCR plays using standard CH3 (or CH4)
If the VCR plays on video input but not when connected to CH3 (CH4) then the tuner of the TV may be defective – see if you can use the VCR to change channel using the VCR remote.
Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

I used the TV remote to change channels instead of using the new SAT remote and now I can't get the tv to work...all I see is fuzz. I followed instructions from handbook to "recover" etc...still no...

more info needed... if it is the tv 1 and you have a coax cable (screw on cable) the tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4 if you have it connected with rca cables (red, white, yellow) the tv will need to be on input (tv/video, input, video, source, on your tv remote) if it is a high def receiver and tv it will need to be on the input hdmi or component (component= y/pb/pr (green, blue, red)) if it is the tv2 (if the sat remote has a blue 2 at the bottom) the tv will need to be on channel 60 or 73 if your still getting snow check the cable connections and or replace the cable and make sure you have the green light lit on the front of the receiver box.

THERE IS NO SOUND WHEN WATCHING

There are 4 possible problems that are causing this:

1. The wiring is incorrect. Since it is a 1080p TV I will assume you have some type of set up box. most cable/sat companyies use component cables because they are cheaper instead of HDMI so you probably have 5 wires going from your set up box to your TV. Make sure the white and red wires (audio) are going into the same input as the red-green-blue wires (video). A easy way to test if this is the problem is to cycle through the imputs and see if the sound you are missing in on one of the other ones. also check the cable box and make sure the wires are all the way in there.

2. The cable box is muted. find the mute button on the CABLE/SAT remote control and press it.

3. The cable/sat box has a bad audio output. an easy way to check this is to plug into a diffferent output, the composite (red, white, yellow) is the easiest since you should already have the wires for it.

4. The inpu ton the television is no good. Test this by pluggin into a different input.

I hope one of these fixes your problem.

PCM 2.0

I had the same problem with my 321 system. The fix is in the cable box settings. You want to change the Digital Out on the cable box..my choices were HDMI....Dolby Digital..and None. Choose Dolby Digital and it will show up on your Bose 321 display. I also have my cable box connected to my bose system via optical digital cable...and a digital coaxel cable from my dvr to my bose. Change that output setting on my cable box took care of the PCM 2.0 problem for me.

Recording instructions

First, whether or not you can do this will depend on cable box useage, and how the VCR is hooked up. In the earlier days of cable TV, & off-air reception, this was a simple task. If you have a satellite receiver box or cable box which is used to tune the channel, rather than using the TV itself or the VCR tuner, then recording one channel while watching another may not be possible. While I don't know the capabilities of newer sat/cable boxes, older ones sent just one signal out to the external equipment (TV etc.) That one signal (channel) is all that is available. If you received a manual with the sat/cable box, see if it says anything about this issue. That being said- if you don't use a sat/cable box, but instead use your TV or VCR to select the channel you are watching, then assuming the VCR is hooked up inline with the TV, just setting the VCR/TV option to TV will pass all channels through to the TV, and you can then use the TV to select whatever channel wished, while the VCR is recording something else. Hopefully I haven't confused you. If another contributor has some additional info on the capabilities of sat/cable boxes of today, please read their contribution.
