Let it on and completely drain the power, then try it. Make sure your lock key is not locked either. (at the top of Zune Device)

One other option you may not know of is to hold the down button, and the back button at the same time. This will send the Zune into a deeper "off" state, and may reset your lock command.

If NO other options are working, you should probably try a "hard reset".

This means you will have to open the Zune itself up (you can find simple instructions for this fairly easily online) and pull a small plug out that connects the battery to the Zune itself. Don't worry, your music wont be deleted.

If it's a zune 30, it's just a glitch in the software timing and so you have to flick it back and forth until it works.
My zune does the same exact thing, it always has. So just bare with them (:

theres a lock thing on the top of the zune switch it so you dont see the red mark it should unlock

If you forget the code, you must erase the device. The Zune device automatically prompts you to erase the data after you enter the incorrect code three times in a row.

To change or disable the screen lock, follow these steps:

1. On the home screen of your Zune device, select Settings, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
2. Select Screen Lock, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
3. Select Disable Screen Lock or Change Lock Code, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
4. Enter your code to continue, and then follow the prompts on screen.

Zune lock is the switch at the top of the zune correct? Slide it into unlock position.

If it's passworded and you can't get it unlocked
try this:
Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad.
Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.

Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.
